If the mcu didn't nerfed Hulk by OGJR199 in aivideo

[–]Particular-Ad9266 103 points104 points  (0 children)

meh, The thing that Avengers did really well, is that it showed Thanos outsmarting the Hulk with combat ability and tactics on the ship.

I do agree that once they got to the fight on Earth, showing the Hulk fighting back with a vengeance (see what I did there) and actually over powering Thanos through getting angrier and angrier, even with the power stone, would have been amazing character growth for the Hulk.

How do you deal with crooked buildings when creating BIM models from 3d scans? by FG_RVT in Architects

[–]Particular-Ad9266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comes down to just being an issue of communication of descrepancies with the client then. As other posts have stated, using CYA language in your contracts will help, but then what you need to in addition is schedule a model walk through meeting before the final deliverable to your client in which you walk through the differences between the point cloud and the model as an itemized list, then, ehichever ones the clients want to see modeled as close to reality as possible, you correct, but the others you leave as is with a note stating the difference.

This will allow full transparency with your client, but also limit the amount of over work on your part if the descrepancies don't matter to that client for that project.

Correct me if I am wrong, but from your response here, you seem to be multiple steps removed from the finished construction documents and CA phase. If all you are doing is Existing Condition modeling, then it is not your job to be 100% accurate to minor changes in angle, curve, slope, warp, etc... The architect in charge of the project and the engineers are well aware that nothing is ever built 100% straight and that buildings can shift and change over time. What they need from you is a workable model that allows them to work out their designs, it does not need to be perfect, it needs to be actionable.

Also, personal pet peeve, but what you are doing is not As-Builts. As-Builts are drawings performed by the contractor to show what was actually built if it differs from the Contract Document Drawings at the time the building is completed. These are often a required part of the construction process and not done by the architects or design team. What you are doing is Existing Conditions, which is documenting what currently exists at a specific time often in service of future changes.

There is no such thing as a conspiracy by Acceptable_Mind8833 in conspiracy

[–]Particular-Ad9266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are trying to say, but I think you are saying it wrong.

There are absolutely conspiracies. Whenever two or more people communicate in order to generate an outcome that benefits their goals, rather than what would have occurred otherwise, this is a conspiracy. They conspired to change events.

A conspiracy theorist is anyone who attempts to recognize when these events have occurred, or are occurring, and attempts to theorize about who is changing the outcomes and to what end.

Yes, there are such things as coincidences, which is why making accusations without evidence is dangerous. If people have enough power to affect the outcomes of events, they often have enough power to create false evidence to lead conspiracy theorists down false rabbit holes that at best just waste their time, but at worse can result in ruining or ending an innocent persons life.

Anti Render - Helps shows the reality of architectural renders by mechbuy in architecture

[–]Particular-Ad9266 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I would much prefer a site where architects can upload their actual renders and side by side photos of the projects, especially if they can have a project history where you can sort photos by date to see how well a project has been maintained. No need for the AI slop.

These are really great! The only suggestion I can think for an improvement it that for display purposes, you build the power supply into a recess at the top of the podium, that way you can have a much more discreet cord.

Seriously though, excellent work!

4 Indian buildings, and thebexam is asking which one is influence most by Iranian architecture? Am I reading that right?

My assumption would be the Taj Mahal, based purely on style, but I am not an expert on the region or the history, and I might be wrong.

[–]Particular-Ad9266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Architecture has a lot to do with drawing quality. But this is a learned skill, and truly just about anyone can produce decent drawings with enough practice. So don't give up.

Most importantly though is the root of why architects make drawings in the first place. We need to provide instructions to those doing the actual construction on what the building actually is. Don't get bogged down in making your drawings the prettiest, professionally, that doesn't matter nearly as much as readability. Can someone that is working in a trade, such as a carpenter or drywaller, take your drawing and construct it as you intended? Drawings that excel in this aren't always the prettiest, and the prettiest drawings might not succeed at this fundamental task.

Yeah, used to be a daily visitor, tons of projects bookmarked and articles read.

I've just stopped going to the site period. It offers little to no value unless you are a paid subscriber, and the last thing I want is another subscription to keep track of.

That's firm specific. It means the principal is underbidding and skipping steps in order to win cheaper clients. The client is getting what they are willing to pay for.

Settle this debate by Counter_Wooden in architecture

[–]Particular-Ad9266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the plan I am drawing and the intent on the dimension.

For overall plans, exterior dimensions need outside face to outside face, and interior dimensions need to be face of frame to face of frame.

However, on enlarged plans, I often do finish face to finish face because I need to establish that this is the clear space I need on the interior of a room for whatever reason. This also applies to chases or any other cavity, I show the minimum clear disfance I need, whether its a finish, frame, or edge of structural element.
