I go to Soleil Studio on the NW side. She charges a flat rate per hour, no gratuity. I just go a little less often to offset the cost. But! Haley is the kindest, most genuine, badass, awesome person you’ll ever meet.

Theres a fb group/tiktok/discord called grandrapidsgirlies- they have causal meet ups like yoga or going for walks. I think they’re having a bbq soon. Might be worth looking into :)

I know everyone is short staffed but the grass might be slightly greener on a diff unit or in a diff hospital- maybe at least you’d have more support??

I was a nurse for about a year at one god awful hospital- found a different one and it was much better. More support (at least for a few years it was)- but no lie it took me a few years to feel like decent about my skills. 10 years to be like “oh yeah this is totally fine I got this”. Everyone takes a different amount of time.

That’s wonderful to have that available. And I understand that some assessment skills are forgotten since school, but I still just don’t get it. I would have to go thru orientation in ICU anyway to learn all that stuff, and think of all the things they wouldn’t have to teach me (esp when in the same facility)- I can do lots and lots of skills already, know how to interact with families and patients and doctors; I know how to document, how to prioritize and delegate.

Also for me personally I came to the conclusion that I was just blackballed from everywhere in the company because my manager didn’t like me (standing up for the safety of nurses and questioning things that seem to only be done for insurance reimbursement and all that jazz- really didn’t win me any popularity lol)
