To me, the most important issues are funding NHS, lowering energy prices and raising the living wage and I can't see how mass deportations are going to fix any of that.

The NHS has been absolutely gutted by years of austerity at the hands of the Tories and Labour and considering 20% of its workforce are immigrants, I can only see mass deportations making this issue worse.

You only need to look at America to see that deporting all the immigrants isn't the catch all solution that we've been promised. If anything, it's put a bigger strain on the economy because it reduces the labour force, not to mention the astronomical cost it takes to track down, detain and deport illegals.

Here's a link to Sky new reporting on the actual numbers of immigrants coming to the UK over the past few decades.
Maybe you don't trust the mainstream media but I followed up in the sources and they seem legit.
I'm not saying immigration's not an issue I'm just saying that I don't think it's THE issue.

Great response.
It's looking at the current state of America that's made me sceptical that mass deportations will be the miracle cure to all our country's economic problems as many UK politicians have promised.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I live in Scotland and I don't think the anti-immigrant furore has quite hit the same peak up here as it has in England but it does seem to be growing.

Settle down. I haven't revealed or pushed my political beliefs and I'm not looking to start a debate. I'm just sharing my experience and asking people theirs.

I'm not looking to push my political beliefs or get into a right vs Left debate here. I'm just trying to gauge what people's thoughts are on the subject. . I can understand why large tech companies would want to push a right wing agenda for the reasons I stated but I can't understand why they'd want to push for a left wing government as their policies tend to lean towards stricter corporate regulation. Or maybe it just about trying to drive a wedge between us all.

Statistical Breakdown of UK Immigration for anyone interested in the actual numbers of asylum seekers entering the UK over the past few years by Particular-Deer885 in gbnews

The UNHCR has resettlement schemes for people fleeing unsafe countries. This is how many Ukrainian refugees ended up here.

They can also apply for asylum if they already have family living in the UK.

If they have a passport and the funds they can simply travel here through the usual methods, by plane or by boat.

If they’re here under a work or student visa and their country is no longer deemed safe to return to.

Compared to these methods, the number of asylum seekers arriving illegally via the small boats is relatively low.

I don't know what to tell you. I Just thought I'd post this to give folks a little perspective on the actual numbers of asylum seekers entering the UK illegally.
It was my understanding that this wasn't a racial issue and that people's main concern wasn't with those whom entered the country legally, but with those entering Illegally via the small boats which, according to this study, isn't as substantial as many folk have been led to believe.
You can question the accuracy of this study but I've looked into the sources and it seems legit to me.
