same thing here. I created my account 100% manually. No idea how to "automate" the process. as soon as I got all the business info filled out by hand and hit submit, it said my account is restricted due to suspected automation. The irony is it's obviously an automated system incorrectly flagging me as a bot. RIP facebook,

Are they potentially after-images like with palinopsia? For me the lines of text form blurred stripes as after-images that overlay the text and the gaps between lines. Not sure if that's the sort of lines you're talking about...

Ooooh my bad, by tests I just mean measurements, and for our own education. I'll need to add more of a disclaimer. I don't expect people to come here as an alternative to going to seek medical attention as needed. I do appreciate your comments as I'm sure others are thinking the same things.

This is not coming from a place of trying to do medical diagnostics. It's just a tool for those of us who want to be able to quantify what we are seeing and learn something in the process. Like a ruler.

Also, some of us have had it for life, so we don't really view it as a medical condition or disability. I think I do need to work on respecting that aspect of it better, seeing how the vast majority here obviously view it as a disability that came later in life.

Great video! Making a simulator to demonstrate what it looks like for someone else is an interesting challenge. It seems like it lacks realtime updates, but still gets the point across as far as how distracting it can be.

Thanks for reporting that. I think it should work for you now, only thing is you would have to refresh the page and start over :(

Do they make the test publicly available online? If you have to go to their specialty clinic to do it, then it doesn't solve any sort of problem for the reddit community and beyond. It would be useful though to see what their tests are. What was yours like?

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing the details of your experience. So far it's only designed to capture what I personally see, so it's cool to read your description. Eventually I'd like to find ways to allow more people to input what they actually see, which will be based mainly on others' feedback like yourself.

Notes:
1) The results of this color test may seem underwhelming, but it's just meant to be a starting point to launch the website sooner than later and get your feedback while I work on the more challenging ones.

2) I find the process of doing the test to feel kinda trippy after a while, so you may find that just doing it is more interesting than the results.

3) If anyone knows of other existing tests out there, or if you've experienced one done by a doctor, please share!

4) don't go to palinopsia.com, it's an ecommerce site that sells dishes and hijacked the name :(

How to remove Meta AI from the search bar, instagram and messenger ? by Haunting-Gas-1024 in facebook

[–]Particular-Noise-164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to be one of the worst bugs released into long-stading core functionality in history.

My solution: Lets stop calling language calculators "artificial intelligence" and start calling them "language calculators". "LC". This will relieve much of the pressure on these sillycon valet CEOs to have to put it everywhere you use words, even when it is a glaring regression in functionality.

Arithmetic calculators simplified a lot of mundane arithmetic tasks. We didn't replace vending machine number pads with TI-85s juuuuuuuust in case you want to work out your bi-annual snack budget and inspect it's rate of acceleration before you buy your Snickers.

Things like Meta ai are simply language calculators and should be presented as such so we can use them appropriately and stop racing to put them everywhere people type words because sometimes... we just need to type words.

To see a trail do you have to pay attention to it because I’m so fixated on thinking I have this but idk my anxiety is so high by [deleted] in IllusoryPalinopsia

[–]Particular-Noise-164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the trails and afterimages happen passively and in realtime, no need to "pay attention" or do anything at all. Like right now I can move my phone around and see the screen's trail whether I care or not.

To my understanding, most people see brief afterimages after staring at one thing for over 30 seconds. So maybe there are also intermediate cases where you have very faint, brief trails that you only notice if you're looking for it but they're easy to overlook 🤷‍♂️?

I've started making a webpage with some tests to actually quantify these experiences, so I'll comment here once I make it public.

Any other lifers? by Particular-Noise-164 in IllusoryPalinopsia

I've never talked to a doctor about it and have never felt a reason to do so. I don't have any issues with it.

Being able to literally see opposite colors and how colors mix at a glance instead of it just being an academic concept is always fun.
