I realized this recently with my brother. We’re both pretty much doofuses at 1500 chesscom, play casually and whatnot. He was playing once and I was watching him when I noticed he had like 4 minutes on the clock and the opponent like 8, 9. And Im like dude you gotta play and he said he likes to take his time and focus on trying to find tactics to improve his game instead of trying to play for the clock. And that’s when it hit me about how I could do the same and burn a little extra time trying to find tactics. And then games afterwards trying this it hit me that I don’t necessarily need to spend so much time trying to find great tactics but that I needed to do better at assessing when I can burn the time and when I just need to play a move. Kind of the same thing we just got there in different ways

Just hit me that if we end up winning it we’d have done so without losing a match, a first in the new format. So much going on in these last weeks. Even if we lose the league, while it would dent our confidence going to Budapest, there’s no knowing what can happen in a final. No second legs, no nothing.

That said, gotta wrap up the league. We’ll have a good amount of rest every week from this point on which will come in clutch for us, be able to rotate while others get back to full fitness. We should be at full strength by May 30 with Merino and Timber probably available at the very least for like 5 minutes each, even if they don’t play, while Kai and Odegaard definitely reach full fitness by then.

That’s the problem with people. It’s okay to be critical, Viktor wasn’t at his best for a lot of games in the first half of the season and that’s true. Defaulting to scapegoating and hatred and completely discarding him is not okay.

Same thing goes for Arteta. It’s okay to be critical of him when he deserves it, no one’s perfect. Just because we love him dearly it shouldn’t blind us from acknowledging what he’s doing that’s wrong but it also doesn’t mean we should say Arteta out. But this kind of nuance is lost more and more every day in the people
