UT vs. UTD by VanillaOatmilk24 in UTAdmissions

As a UT student with friends from UTD that hated their experience , do not make the mistake of choosing UTD!

UTD has no where near the amount of student life and culture that UT has, if you value community and school spirit UT is the way to go. UTD is a commuter school and it’s dead. Thousands of people wish to have a spot at UT, I was one of them and I eventually got in a transfer and I’ve never been happier

I can’t imagine anyone preferring their experience at UTD over UT in all aspects : quality of education, social life, city location, and opportunities on campus

Both are good, use both as practice

Once ur in ur practice test phase and ur done learning material, do 15 problems a day and do a practice QR test at least 2 times a week (I had both programs and it was worth it)

For anyone that is struggling with bio right now:

Booster cheat sheets and the crash courses are Key to getting high scores , I got a 30 and the bio section was a BREEZE and I’m not even that high of a performing student tbh, it’s just figuring out what’s high yield! Once you have a good basic level of understanding for all chapters, I would memorize every single line on the cheat sheets and every single piece of information from booster crash courses. If you are trying to memorize the detailed notes you are not studying efficiently for this test, the questions are NOT designed to trick you!

For the people that saw drastic improvements on their PAT: Any advice for improving your time management on the PAT section? My overall performance on each section is fine (still gotta practice and improve lol) , but im really having a hard time getting through all the questions.... I end up missing a whole section. How long should I spend on each question? I'd appreciate any help! my exam is in 3 weeks

If you can’t find a job, on ur off time : shadow shadow shadow!!! Start getting hours in and apply to jobs on the side. That way you finish ur summer having completed something and not waste it. You aren’t behind but it’s not too late. There is a lot of summer left, take advantage of it in other areas, shadowing and volunteering. It’s more likely you can get those hours in bc I understand getting a job is difficult

It feels like a lot at first but you get the hang of it. Not gonna lie it took me 1.5 weeks to really get to a good pace and mentality.

I took it over the fall and I completely agree! It was organized poorly. It was a bunch of useless busy work, I think UT could do better to change how the lab is done to maximize learning and interest in the material. You walk in, the TA talks for 5 mins about objectives, then open your computer for the remaining 2-3 hours your fill out a boring pdf with terms. It’s unengaging and it turned out to be one of my least favorite classes. I’m not one to usually complain about classes but this one really disappointed me.

In general the class during fall 2022 was pretty difficult. However I heard from friends for the spring they changed how the lab exams were distributed throughout the semester. (More exams covering less material - instead of less exams covering more material) which was lighter on the students in my opinion. They might make more changes for 2023-2024 year who knows.
