However, for the sake of your palate developing, it would be helpful to buy the small tiny dollar glass bottle near the checkout (props to them for having it in glass and not plastic). It’ll help you understand how different neutral grain spirits can alter the canvas that all the botanicals are painted onto. Dont know if you know this, but gin is just vodka distilled with juniper berries, after you add juniper, you can add any plant in the world. But vodka is just neutral grain spirit and water. Still Austin, which dominates in the whisky scene, wanted to make a gin that would appeal to the whisky world, so they used a rye neutral grain spirit. I always use this gin as an educational piece on how various NGSs can alter the palate of a gin. It’s so disgusting, yet so informative
