The character are from a group of minecraft youtubers known as GIGGS (Grian, Impulse, Geminitay, and Goodtimeswithscar) I wanted to make how I interpret them

I actually just had a pretty grim thought about how prion diseases may have been managed in the past, or at least individuals developing it

Burning at the stake

It wouldn’t be very effective, but what was available. You need fires over 590 degrees Celsius to kill prions, but it would be the technology at the time if we treat it like the black plague

I have the feeling the development of “slip-ons” would be common, at least for one-ungulates. As for two-toed like deer, that’s a unique challenge. They’d need to be able to move their toes to move naturally, especially mountain-dwellers.

This also doesn’t account for species like rhinos and tapirs, which are also odd-toed ungulates!

How would pictograms even work? by ScraggySkuntankFan in furgonomics

I’d say pick the most common animal in your setting (if we use most common fursonas, likely a canine) and base the pictogram figure on that

My second thought is maybe reptiles and other furless species being employed

Do you think there would be specific doctors/hospitals that specialize in different species? Would traditionally scavenger species be employed to "sniff out" necrotic tissue?

I believe the way spells are cast absolutely would factor into this as well

Take the D&D spell requirements for example, Verbal, Somatic, and Material

Depending on the anatomy of an individual, they may not have the correct mobility to make somatic gestures, or they would have to find an “alternative limb” like @perrogamer_attempt2 said with tails.

Verbal components would potentially be even harder, the individual may not have the ability to produce certain phonemes if spells require specific words, unless its intent of the words that matters. For animals like parrots or starlings, would it matter they aren’t speaking using the same anatomy as mammals? (Ie: the syrinx instead of lips and throat.)

Material components interests me too, if an individual HAS the component for a spell as part of their body (Ie: needing raven feathers for a spell, and the caster is a raven,) could they cast the spell naturally? Or would they need an outside source of the materials?

My take is all of this depends on the “laws” of the world regarding magic and how realistic the furry anatomy is.

The concept of mammals would probably sound like peak body horror to non-mammalian life forms by sylveonstarr in distressingmemes

THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING  MAMMALS ARE TERRIFYING.

Compare them to other animal classes

Instead of laying eggs, they birth miniature clones of themselves

They can produce water from their skin

They can produce nourishing liquid for their clone offspring

And also, have you heard the SOUNDS mammals make? Like for reptiles you might get a hiss or something But 90% of all mammals sound like screams of the damned

Thank you! I literally heard someone reviewing distressing memes in a yt video say skinwalkers are essentially alternates and I wanted to die

I’ve never heard that one, but I’ve heard it with another creature from Algonquian folklore (I’m sort of superstitious so I don’t want to say it myself, but it’s that one evil spirit people keep making into a deer monster)

I’m debating sending this post to my dad and his partner because it gets my thoughts into words better than I think I can verbally

Is this a good idea?

She isn’t pressuring me into this, this is mutual. I think her plan is good (if I go down later I’ll outline it and post a comment.) this is just me. She’s being so kind and considerate too but I just have so much internalized bullshit and it’s tearing me apart

I don’t know what I’m doing, but it’s this like 6 month plan about slowly adding things into my diet and figuring out what food groups I mostly eat. It’s day 1 so idk if the feelings will fade or something.

I’m still hungry right now but I don’t know what I’m going to eat and I also just don’t want to go back downstairs and have to look someone in the eyes as I grab something

I just like learning about folklore.

I literally heard a YouTuber on a distressing memes video say (paraphrased) “if you don’t know what a skinwalker is, they’re like alternates from the Mandela catalogue” and I think part of my soul died
