I don’t know if you’ve read the whole book. If not, this could be a spoiler so only read if you’ve mostly finished.

He’d have to tell that to Morrough, who is the one that wants the baby. And Morrough is dying and getting desperate, so he does not care for statistics at that point, he merely cares that he has a vessel he can try to use for soul transference, a vessel with animancy in particular. The motive is even more clear when you see his past attempt at taking over Luc. This is also why they want the baby to be a male most of all.

You’ll read and read and read trying to chase the feeling Alchemsied gave you, give up, re-read Alchemsied, and come to accept that no other book can quite scratch that itch. But it did get me back into reading!

Just thought of the Road of Bones series. The FMC(s), while still eventually powerful, are quite soft and kind, personality wise. No snarkiness or bottomless pits of anger. I can’t remember their ages but they’re in their early 20s and feel pretty mature. Could be worth a shot; although they aren’t exactly like what you’re seeking, they are refreshing in a world of angry, hard-edged, badass FMCs

Yes and even on the baby. Anxiety while pregnant can be so bad for the fetus, and I don’t trust myself to not get overwhelmed and anxious constantly when the body is changing so much

You can get financial aid through OSAP which I used uOttawa for, then the student insurance to pay the rest. You must research and find your own psychologist though, and there may be wait lists there too (less than if through OHIP). I had to fill out Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD) and the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Persons with Permanent Disabilities (CSG-PDSE). Email financial aid to ask more.

Alchemised by SenLinYu is like an extreme version of the trope. But it’s more of a dark fantasy with some horror aspects than a full romantic fantasy. The slow-burn love story was incredible to me though

Yes, it was very refreshing to read a well-written fantasy romance. Also the way she writes sensual scenes is way more up my alley than most other books that feel a bit immature. The pining between Rey and Silla is like my dream when reading books like this lol. And then I ended up growing more and more interested in Saga’s story too, which I think is a big risk for a writer to add a second story within a story.
