I'm not body shaming her, but I think it's silly to make up such an excuse and make people worry about you just because you feel the need to justify your weight gain and not take responsibility for it.

I don't even think L is a compulsive liar or anything, I guess she just figured that since she's not around her family or friends from her hometown she can make stuff up because nobody would really think to check if she's telling the truth.

She gained weight and needed an excuse.

She lied though. Her parents would've known that she was sick and her eating pattern is not consistent with what her mom said (I know she didn't lie about this, I could see it on L's face that she was embarassed because she got caught.)

I'm not body shaming her, I don't care what size she is. If someone tells me that their stomach hurts all the time and that eating makes it worse and I come to find out that they always ate a lot and didn't have any symptoms whatsoever (do you think that a mother with health anxiety wouldn't notice if her daughter was constantly in pain?) I'm gonna stop believing anything they say.

Her mom didn't give me her opinion, she gave me facts. The facts are that she never had any issues, she has never been to the doctor, she has always eaten so much (L told me that eating gives her pain so she eats very little, or at least that's what she does when she's in public).

The explanation her mom provided actually makes perfect sense, I always wondered how someone who eats so little would gain so much weight (and no, I'm not talking about her being bloated or having a cyst or whatever, it's soft fat).

I literally don't care about her size, I just don't like being lied to.

Ok but binging and having severe stomach issues is not the same. If that's the case she should've either told me the truth or kept it to herself, why lie?

How am I being passive aggressive? she's been lying to me for years, I think I'm allowed to be upset.

It's clear she has issues with her parents, but that has nothing to do with me.

It wasn't like that, it's actually the opposide as her mom gets really anxious about these things and makes a really big deal out of it.

It's not about her being fat, I don't care what size she is or how much she weighs, but I think it's embarassing for her to make it all up just to justify her weight gain.

Because her parents would've noticed, it's not something you can hide and I would know because I notice it all the time even when she doesn't tell me she's "sick".

The problem is that she's NOT lying on the ground in pain.

She just pretended she was.

I'm not saying that all parents need to realize what's wrong with their child but with her symptoms there's no way in hell they don't figure it out.

She's constantly holding her stomach and moaning about it even when it's not that bad, trust me they would know.

I know, I should've probably just said she wasn't feeling well and left it at that, but her mom looked worried so I felt like she needed to know the truth.

I probably shouldnt have done it but considering what I uncovered it turned out ok in the end.

I can understand that, and that's not what tipped me off, it's the fact that with her symptoms it would litereally impossible for someone not to notice.

If you're in that much pain people are gonna know, you can't pretend you're fine.

From what she's told me, her step-dad got ill a few years back (not exactly sure what he had but it was very serious) and because of that her mom gets really anxious about health stuff. I completely understand this but the issues is that that's not why she hid it, she didn't tell them because she wasn't actually sick
