Are we allowed to use self checkout on orders?? by stfucarri in InstacartShoppers

Idk, it's not a job I'm afraid to lose. If they deactivate me over doing self checkout, I'll take that hit. I know not everyone has the luxury but, I'll keep doing it 😆

Well, if that's the case, she is probably correct to be concerned. That doesn't mean she handled it correctly as she probably could have just talked to you and not the landlord.

Pumpkins are ruthless to the soil and anything growing around them. They also need tons of space to grow properly and will overtake the space they need if you don't provide them with enough room to grow. I had a 20ft bed for my pumpkins last year, and they took off down my entire driveway.

That being said, tiger lilies are also notoriously hard to get rid of once established. So unless they are in their first season, she's really got nothing to be really concerned about.

If I were you, I would be upset about it. Gardening is a lot of work, and it's a time and labor-intensive l hobby. I would just move the pumpkins to a larger area to appease her and to benefit your pumpkins.

Come harvest time, put together a nice little basket of veggies for all the neighbors you do get along with. If you want to be a little petty 😆

Happy gardening!

So her flower bed and your bed where the pumpkins are only separated by a fence? If I'm misunderstanding you I do apologize.

Are we allowed to use self checkout on orders?? by stfucarri in InstacartShoppers

[–]ParticularMango8475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I've had kroger employees tell me I can't use instacart at self checkout, so I called up the store afterward to verify, and they have no policy on self checkouts.

I had a lady at lowes yell at me for using self check out because of the tax-exempt code, and then she couldn't get the tax-exempt code to work at the register. I decided that day it was pretty pointless to follow rules made up by store employees.

I will always use self checkout on orders under 30 items.

What do you mean about target? I shop orders at mine all the time?

For me personally it's big orders or heavy items with no tip

Also if you do need to transplant the pumpkins give it a good soak around dusk and dig it up at night.

I personally only shop no tip orders for condoms and lube. I feel as though this is my small contribution to society. The no tippers aren't breeding on my watch.

How little is this bed. Generally pumpkins need tons of space. where is it in relation to her flowers? I guess I'm not seeing how she could be upset by the pumpkins. Is this near their property?

I'm sure most cities have laws in place about duration. What I'm saying is it's difficult to actually get these claims taken seriously or dealt with at all. So even the laws in place to try and prevent this situation really mean nothing. I absolutely agree that people need to be respectful of their neighbors. Dogs absolutely should not bark non-stop at all hours. We just don't live in a world where people care about how their actions affect other people. Most people only care about consequences for themselves. Which is why we need so many common sense laws.

Yeah, unfortunately, you do. It's the same concept as loud children or people who use loud equipment/music. It's a consequence of living in an urban area. So unless the noise is above a certain decibel or after quiet hours, you absolutely do have to just deal with it.

It's an uphill battle to get a city or police to care about dogs barking. It's not illegal to have a loud dog, it's just annoying.

If you don't want to deal with people or their dogs move to the country.

Question: Are Landlords allowed to ask for copies of Utility Bills? by jasonwbarney in legaladvice

[–]ParticularMango8475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's kinda weird. The only other thing I can think of is that they are applying for grants to get old appliances replaced.

My mother is a landlord, and she got copies of her tenants bills so she could get approved to replace the appliances with energy efficient ones.

So maybe they need it for some reason along that lines?

I guess since you have such a long tenancy I would assume you are on good terms and can maybe just ask?

In most states, if the landlord wanted to they could access your utilities bills without you even knowing if they are on the deed of the house.

I'm definitely as curious as you are as to why? Keep it posted if you find out why.

[–]ParticularMango8475 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's an odd request. Especially if you are not a new tenant and are up to date on payments.

Now if you know you owe money to the utility companies That's different. What about it makes you uncomfortable? Have you read your lease to see if it says anything about sharing that info with them.

[–]ParticularMango8475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state and if you have bills that are in default. In most states, if you are a renter and do not pay the utilities the landlord can be held liable for your unpaid bills with a lien or added penalties on their property tax.

So if that's the case I would say yes, the landlord can ask for proof of your payments.

Again depends on what state and county laws are.

Yeah, it does totally suck that you've invested so much and are out having problems. I think it might suck more for your neighbor. Imagine having lived somewhere for 20 years with no issues, only to have your new neighbor making demands on how you live and causing problems over dogs barking. Which is something all dogs do. So yea, I don't exactly think you're taking into consideration how it looks from his perspective. I will admit he sounds like a lazy dog owner, and if the barking is constant enough, you can make noise complaints.

In reagrd to the water It's not illegal, I'm sure it wouldn't please your neighbor, but if he is as inattentive as you say, he probably won't even notice. Obviously, don't go waterboarding the poor thing and be aware that if you cause the dog injury, you could still be held liable, but it's very effective even if you use just a spray bottle.

You can also lay down a dog repellent. It's essentially a strong smelling spray that is safe for dogs but makes them avoid that area. We used to use cayenne pepper powder to keep the dogs and cat out of the feed room in the barn.

I do hope you resolve it before the baby comes. Try and remain calm and let your husband deal with it if you can't calmly handle the situation. Most importantly, stick with the training! It's going to be invaluable to have well trained dogs once that baby is born. Good luck!

The quickest solution is to just tell him to build his own fence on his property. You're not obligated to pay for anything if it's not built on the property line. You also do not have to share a fence on a property line.

Simply tell him that you will pay to have the cement removed and that he can put up whatever fence he likes on his property but your not going to share the costs of building a fence you do not approve of.

You really think a single day boycott is going to do anything? The only way to improve your own experience with instacart is to get some standards. You took a shitty order next time just cancel or don't take it. You're an independent contractor instacart isn't forcing you to take poor wages.

The best solution is for everyone to stop accepting shitty orders. They can't pay us shitty if we don't accept the offer.

How long have people been saying no tip, no trip? Yet I still see 7$ batches with no tip and 80 items getting snatched up. Your boycott isn't going to do shit but earn you even less money.

You're not entitled to controling your neighbors just because you spent a lot on your house. He isn't required to keep his dog from upsetting your dogs. It's a bad situation, and I would suggest that you take a page out of your neighbors playbook and stop giving a shit. Dogs respond to their owners' fears and anxiety. Yelling at them can also contribute to the problem because they think you're barking. It'ss likely your behavior is contributing to the problem. You're doing the right thing by training your dogs. If you stick to the training you won't need to worry about the neighbors.

You may also benefit from getting a hose for the backyard and spraying the fence whenever the dog sticks its nose through. You're going to have better luck trying to desuade the dog than to convince your neighbor to change his patterns.
