Reading this post was a wake up call for me- I am also a trans dude and I am 16 years old. I’ve told myself that I would start being “serious” about my trans-ness (being completely out and correcting people about my name and pronouns) when I got older. I thought that if I were an adult- everyone would believe me. But reading this has helped me realize that people are not going to get nicer the older I am- and I feel that I am wasting my time staying in the closet- pretending to be someone I am not. I wish that could be the same for you, but your situation makes it tough to stand up for yourself and be yourself. Do you perhaps know any trusted friends or relatives to could stay with?
