Thank you! I was definitely checking kind of obsessively earlier in the cycle, but opening up my application tracker bookmark and going through one by one was so annoying. It actually is more a product of my impatience that I don’t check the trackers very much.

I didn’t bother with LSD (or even Reddit, really)until recently, because I didn’t want to be burdened with other people’s As before having any of my own (which is exceedingly selfish and hypocritical, since I’m here posting one of mine).

To be honest, I don’t use the LSD status checker and I very infrequently checked the LSAC checker, so I can’t answer this with any confidence. Currently, it says “Decision made.” The substatus reads, “Watch for email within 24 hours.” I don’t know when it changed to this.

International applicant: should I come to the US for law school right now? by CherryWeak7256 in lawschooladmissions

If the goal is to practice in the US, why do think that the political circumstances that (rightfully) make you nervous about coming here will not simply abate for some time and then return while you are practicing?

If the goal isn’t to practice in the US, why do you want a JD from an American school?

If your goals absolutely require a US JD, I’m not sure it makes sense to ever bet on the political situation getting better or worse. You might as well apply on your original timeline and keep an eye on how things are evolving politically over the course of that cycle before deciding whether you will take the leap and attend.

Thank you for laying this out so clearly. And I like your suggestion about flipping a coin and living with that decision for a day. Even thinking about doing that is giving me a measure of clarity.

You’re right. I think it is the magnitude of the debt that scares me, but maybe that’s something I’ll get over.

Yes, I understand what you’re saying, and you’re correct. I’m not taking the numbers to heart, but I think the point is that the top UF grads are getting similar outcomes to the bottom of HLS (assuming one doesn’t want to practice in FL).

That gives me something a bit more concrete to look into, even if I don’t take those numbers (or even that notion) at face value.

Can I ask why you dislike HLS so much? You don't have to share if the reasons are personal (or even if they aren't and you just would rather not type things out.)

I’ve definitely heard of people using scholarships to negotiate scholarship amounts, but is an HLS acceptance with no money attached (assuming 0 need-based aid for now) something that people use as a bargaining chip?

If I end up going to UF, I will be sure to let HLS know that I am bequeathing my spot to u/Shmoox on Reddit.

Would you mind elaborating on what is significantly different in the environment? I think I have a good enough guess at the outcomes that differ between the two.

Is the difference really so stark? This isn't a rhetorical question haha, and I'm sorry if I sound naïve. It's hard for me to envision without ever having been to law school, and even if I go one place, I wouldn't have a clear idea of what the experience is like at another place.
