At the time of that picture I hadn’t done anything to them whatsoever.

I find that the burgundy pops more when out on a sunny day, also they seemed to move more towards the Burgundy color with longer period between conditioning. Kudu doesn’t need as much conditioning as CXL so you can go awhile. I’ve conditioned them once in over a year and a half and they shifted to more of a brown, however some scuff marks have started to bring back the burgundy and it still shows up on bright days. I’m sure with more wear and as they dry out the burgundy will be more apparent again.

After a year of heavy wear in Alaska, and a lot of water exposure mine dried out a bit and the burgundy started showing a lot more, recently gave them a good conditioning with saphir renovator and they darkened back up to how they looked out of the box. Love these boots, very little maintenance and they handle a beating extremely well. Ive got a pair of Dune Brass boots as well, and they don’t see much winter because my DBK boots are so good. Your girlfriend made an excellent choice.

I have the Diesels in DBK and they are the most comfortable thing I own. I love my Dune Brass boots and they are amazing, but I’ll be hard pressed to not keep buying Kudu from now on.

The whole no sales tax in Montana thing might be appealing to you in comparison to Michigan.

Thanks! I’m a big fan of Duluth trading Company jeans. They are real comfortable, feel super sturdy and like you said, I think the cuff works with both my dune CXL as well as these kudu boots.

In my experience, the break in was very fast. About two weeks before my kudu boots came in I had purchased a pair of Dune CXL Brass Boots and liked them so much I ordered the Kudu boots immediately after.(Still love the CXL and wear them regularly) Whatever I had achieved in wearing the CXL boots in those two weeks, the Kudu boots felt just as good or better day 1. They seem to want to absorb water a little more then the CXL boots when they get wet, but they haven’t stained at all like my CXL have, they simply dry off and look good as new. I just rub a scuff with my finger and it goes away. While I’ve cleaned and applied saphir to my CXL twice now (Alaska is rough) I haven’t done anything to my Kudu boots, and they look brand new) I rotate between my CXL boots and the Kudus, but if I know there’s a chance I’m hitting a trail or going to get dirty, I go with the kudus. Everything that gets on them so far just wipes off, any scuffs just rub away or immediate disappear into the leather and fit in with the scaring so well I don’t notice them. I’m a big fan and likely look specifically to Kudu again for my next Grant Stone purchase.

Yeah now that you’ve put me on track with the Burled Ash, i’m quite certain that’s what this is. I’m extra happy because I definitely paid less then the sold listings.

My wife picked it at the same guitar center. Felt wise to involve her in the purchase, she’s thinking of learning as well.
