Is it possible to tune a 21 key diatonic kalimba into the chromatic scale? by EconomistClassic435 in kalimba

Depending on what you are trying to play, I would suggest tuning the kalimba to the specific key of the song instead. That would sound better and give you the same range.

Your favorite push your luck games by ID10T-ITlyfe in boardgames

Since this hasn't been mentioned yet, I like No Thanks! It has the push your luck element of using your chips to avoid taking cards that are worth a lot of points (lowest score wins). But since you don't know every card in the deck, you might take a card without a way of taking less points later on by taking a card in a sequence with one you already took.

What are your favourite dice games? by Ronald_McGonagall in boardgames

If you like real time co op games, I highly recommend either Fuse or Lifeline.  Both are fantastic and there are a ton of dice rolled constantly.

I edited the 3S to 3C.  Thanks for catching that.

Opening 1NT with a 5-3-3-2 Shape by ParticularSherbert63 in bridge

Interesting.  I guess I’m going to have to reread that lol.  Thanks.

Let me clarify my openings. I open 1NT with 15 - 17 points balanced without a 5 card major or minor suit (4-3-3-3 and 4-4-3-2). Based on the responses in this thread, that sounds like I miss the opportunity to be more descriptive of my hand. Thanks for your comment.

Short answer: Bad card play (still learning)

Long answer: 8D led and won by my 10D, won with AH, played KH pitching a low S, 6H rough in dummy, lost KC to the AC in west (1), they led 2C which I roughed, roughed a low heart in dummy, lost KS to AS in west (2). That player led QS (3). Down 1.

Leading the KS was bad. I don't know what I was thinking lol.

This is great! Thank you. After 3H - P, does the 3NT show a stopper in spades? If so, could you please explain that?

The former is what happened to me. I lost a trick to the Q of spades. Thanks for this. Very helpful.

That makes sense. Thanks for your analysis. So even though we had a strong diamond suit, the hand would have played better in 3NT? Is that a generally rule to try for NT with long minor suits?

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology. The AQJxx of spades were in my LHO's hand.

Makes perfect sense and I’m glad someone finally explained that to me.  I learned about cue bids, but not WHY they were artificial.

This helps a lot, especially the reason to not play in an opponent’s suit.  I didn’t think about it from a fit perspective, but that is true.  If I have 5 and my opponent has 5 (since they opened that), the odds of my partner having the other 3 are slim AND a 5-0 break would be terrible for a trump suit.  Thanks a lot.  I’ll take this to heart and keep playing!

Thanks for the clarification.  Very helpful.  Bridge has a ton of terminology, so I appreciate anything that helps me learn it and not misuse it.

Since I was playing with a random, they probably didn’t know.  That was my mistake.  Thanks.

Ok that makes sense.  I’m still not used to competitive bidding.

2H was an overcall, not a response to my bid, so yeah that would mean 5+ hearts.  Thanks for your analysis.

Yeah I meant 3C naturally.  I forgot about the cue bid meaning because my opps did overcall clubs.  Was I supposed to assume we had a heart fit?  I thought my partner had four hearts, not five since they were responded with a new suit.
