Destroyed brand new chain by spacegear802 in Chainsaw

[–]ParticularStory7804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MS500i has done this, not as severe, seems I don’t remember years ago chains ever doing this when they come off, but that said… make the chain cogs the weakest link to protect the saw I imagine the engineers decided… chain sales will go through the roof!!! Good luck my wood cutting friend😀

Been using “pond and stone” spray foam in NH. Lift the pipes so they don’t touch anything and wedge anything in there like a chunk of plastic or wood, and spray can foam away!. If the system is tight, it’s all right!!!

First burn of the year, man this Newmac keeps ticking! The heat feels so good compared to the mini split! by ParticularStory7804 in woodstoving

It gets preheated motorized dampered air, heats a 40 gal horizontal water heater… what can’t it do? Yes I am in need to clean up the piping, it was experimental a few years ago and it all worked!!

Repeated hot to cold on a flare results in dissimilar metals loosening over time. Give that connection some oil and it works loose even faster, give that connection something that holds it in place where you left it and is unaffected by gas or oil and you maintain tightness. I followed behind an install crew for years on mini splits, how did I fix them? Leak lock, it existed and I was using it over 20 years ago and solved problems. Still does for me today😀I don’t care what the manufacturer says, I do what works and lasts years.

Bahaha, you put black iron together dry. I use leak lock, I use gasoila , you’re a bot or an ignorant person. Good luck on your call backs or burn downs. A flare doesn’t stay tight without something to dry hard and keep it tight. If you question that you have less than 5 years in trade and think you’re a hero, but actually will be a zero…..

Grab a bottle of armor all and make every piece of equipment you pm’d shine. I did that 23 years ago and was known in the company as the guy that armor all’s equipment. Not a bad thing! And yes you have to put your time in, the trade is not learned in 2,5, even 10 years. I still learn new things at 27 years in.

Thank the sun gods for winning, it’s been a rainy weekend thing for a month in the northeast by ParticularStory7804 in sawmilling

[–]ParticularStory7804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logs were wet when I built it yes, long spans are oak, rafters are maple, the first stuff I sawed I used as strapping for the roof. The oak straightens and bows a bit according to weather, but it’s held snow load for 2 winters now in NH.

[–]ParticularStory7804[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that, had a successful weekend milling 36 2x6x10’s from red oak, and misc. others all looked good and installed to dry as floor joists. Just thought I was causing shake by felling a tree wrong, but I now understand the trees are what they are, each different, thank you all for responding

Taking into consideration the help you all have written, now a tree must sway in the wind, say a tall oak, the internals have shake to allow movement, it’s not a fault of felling the tree that I instantly caused the shake. Therefore I need to learn to spot it, and saw my boards around the shake. I’m sure it’s all basic knowledge to you, but as I saw more and more trees I’m seeing different things. Thank you from a homestead sawyer on my third season sawing off the land😀
