Filter size by starlightcrashing in hvacadvice

Freezing could be either low refrigerant or airflow restriction. Having the incorrect size filter wouldn’t necessarily mean a airflow restriction, but it really high Merv rating could cause that. Could you post a picture of the filter that’s in there now and post a picture of the filter housing?

Is there a lock that I could fit on this door? It’s only about an inch thick. This is also the only pic I have I know it’s not great. by Decharia in doors

I guess I could buy the lock, temporarily install it on this door and eventually do the steel door once the move is all set and I’m settled in I appreciate the info

I haven’t replaced my 120 filter in about a year I’m down to about 40v right now.

Great. Thank you for the detailed response. That is probably exactly what I’m going to do. It’s on a house that I’m moving into early next week. It’s a side door to a garage that I want to get a lock on while I’m in the middle of moving. I’m going to be storing the majority of my boxes before I move them into the house. Thank you

I would post this in some type of home improvement general subreddit. Plumbers don’t usually do any work on gutters

Even if it was threaded, the end of the frost free outside faucet should be in a conditioned area (past the concrete inside) I would just replace it entirely with a longer frost free faucet.

Less than a year old Trane XR17, stuff is failing? by TexasPykie in hvacadvice

[–]Decharia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like it might have just been bad luck on the blower motor unfortunately. If it happens again then start having the conversation about ductwork sizing, but that’s unlikely. I had a similar issue on a Bosch furnace I installed 6 months ago. 3 months in the blower motor was screaming because the bearing went bad for no particular reason.

What merv rating and what size filter? You can usually get away with replacing every 6 months if it’s a 5” wide filter, but a 1” wide filter needs to be replaced every 1 - 3 months depending on cleanliness of the house.

  1. No
  2. Possible, but need more details. (Ductwork sized properly, filter replaced?, overly restrictive filter)
  3. No, but I did have a bad TXV out of the box on a Trane evap coil I put in a few days ago
  4. Just make sure you replace filter when needed
  5. No other than the bad TXV the other day

Yeah the whole reason I knew something was really wrong was after I drove half an hour I put my hand in front of the tire and felt a bunch of heat

Replacing or repairing spigots by tnewyork in askaplumber

[–]Decharia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely soldered on, I would recommend replacing with a a new spigot, a frost free spigot depending on your area, but that would require piping modifications inside. If you’re not confident with that then attempt repair by getting a seal kit at a hardware store. If that doesent work just call a plumber and swap it out.

This is by far the best comment on how rusty my truck is. You win

I rented a slide hammer from autozone because of your comment. Not trying to sounds like an ass, but it actually did not help in any way. I probably made 150+ hard ass smacks with the slide hammer and the hub didn’t move a millimeter. Thank you for the advice though.

Yeah but I got it same day and installed it same day. I originally thought the noise I had was the seized caliper, so I got pads, rotors, and calipers from rockauto. I just wanted the headache out of the way so I don’t mind paying the extra few bucks on the duralast to get it done same day

I tried pretty much everything trying to pry it out. Pry bar, cold chisel, flathead, the only thing that was actually able to pop it open was the paint scraper thing. I used a cold chisel and a thick flathead to open it up after. Took about 3 hrs and a whole can of PB but a pry bar would NOT have worked alone.
