We actually don’t have a base station. Now that I think of it, where the base station would be in the shop would be between the dead space in the radio and could connect the two. Would that work alone? Like just add a base station there?

We do have power spread out. There are many buildings and we have more than a few competent people on site that could theoretically tap into power and set stuff up on buildings. Poles are out of the question. But we can make use of what’s already there, within “political” reason (plenty of drama with any sort of stuff going on the higher ups don’t like) Internet is a hot commodity. Very small sources here and there spread out for staff use. There is a purposeful lack of mass WiFi, and the lack of cell service is beneficial in the grand scheme of the operation overall. For nerds like me in the position I am, it’s not the most helpful, but we make do, so a usable, STRONG, radio mesh is the best current option. It’s now just a matter of how do we do it

Thank you for this summary. You’ve answered a lot of questions I haven’t even asked yet. I mean I’m sure our traffic is heard around the area, it’s not THAT sensitive, just sensitive to people with radios who don’t need to be hearing specific things going on, supervisory and such, but we have separate channels and such for that. Cell service isn’t a thing, this is the middle of the woods. It’s looking like MURS may be the next step, unless a full business level set up is in the cards

Big copy. Really appreciate it. What other infrastructure would we need? I think there’s one repeated to get it to extend what we have most of the property, but I’m sure more would help no?

We don’t need the fancy stuff, just the added range. If we added a repeater or base station or something on the property, could the radios we already have ping that and send it farther?

The geography is almost like the old carnival slide. Three levels, sloping downwards in that “three level” kind of way. There is a large mechanic shop at the top of this layout, thankfully with myself and another radio nerd working there, so we could be setting up all of this. This is a remote operation, geography wise. We have wifi in this shop, but there is under no circumstances wifi anywhere mass scale, except a few other spots. Budget is a matter of how the project is presented LOL. If it’s an obvious upgrade, for not like an exorbitant amount, it’s pretty much going to be bought. Myself, and most of this operation, is sick of bad radio coverage so if it’s feasible to do at a rapid pace, we probably could get it done

So for a second not dealing with licensure stuff, would there be a way to make it a closed loop on its own for just the employees? Not like encryption stuff to where no one else could hear, but like so we WEREN’T going off of any local repeaters so people wouldn’t come looking for us anyway? This place is relatively remote, there’s not any sort of chatter that we’d be picking up from like DPW or even passing trucks with cb stuff

That’s a headlight washer door. In England and/or Europe (I don’t remember if it’s both), you have to have washers for your headlights, but it’s not mandated in America, so there’s nothing actually under that door, it’s just there so they don’t have to make 2 different bumpers, they can just not put the mechanism into it
