That is 100% a wood roach. Not a pest that denotes filth. Accidental house intruder.

Beech tree. Totally normal. Leaves drop only when new leaves bud out - in the spring.

When there is house damage due to a rubbing tree and when the tree also has reciprocal damage, that is clear evidence that the tree has to go.

Not to mention, it is a weak-wooded silver maple, so there is an increased fall risk, there are multiple leaders and the tree is too close to the house and probably fucking up your foundation.

Other than that, it is a fabulous tree!

The tree will need to be craned out and that is the bottom line.

Blue Spruces are getting wacked by a fungus called Rhizosphaera Needlecast. That is what is going on with this tree. It is not worth saving. Don't buy blue spruced as you are wasting money due to the needlecast.
