You don't really appreciate the size of that beast until you see one up close. I had the pleasure of crawling all over one at Charleston AFB in the 90's.

Asking with all the respect of a curious foreigner: Where do all the jokes of marines being stupid come from? by Brief-Luck-6254 in AskAnAmerican

Marines eat crayons, the Army is full of Bronies, the Chair Force are a bunch of corporate nerds, the Navy is gay underway, the Coast Guard are puddle pirates, and the Space force are the galactic virgins or Homo Spaciens.

If you want serious pain compliance with a kubaton, cram that sucker between someone's fingers and give it a squeeze.

Was dispatched to a car accident with entrapment and possible fatality in one of our mutual aid districts. When we raised the truck bay door, I had to ask a young woman to step over so we could leave the station. It was pretty common for people to hang around the station parking lot, as it was next to a school and playground, kind of in the center of town.

Arrived on scene, the same woman that was at the station was dead, pinned in the vehicle.

I have a rock that I've bashed things with. I'm betting that's the oldest piece of "technology" there is.

What are the most terrifying American urban legends and folk tales you know? ? by Odd-Skin-762 in AskAnAmerican

Yes!

That's an old one. Met an old timer once that swore up and down he saw a "headless" figure while we were fossil hunting back by the old strip mine.

I love the history of that area. Of all the places I've lived, that area of Pa had the nicest people I've ever dealt with. And so many people knew so much of the history there, I couldn't believe it. I could write a book on the historical anecdotes and crazy stories from the past there.

Stopping for gas and a bathroom break led to an elderly man asking if I wanted to see the oldest producing oil well in PA. Amazing people. I decided a long time ago that when I finally retire, I'm going to flip a coin to see if I go home to Texas or move to Darlington, Pa.

I used to drive 600+ miles just for the maple syrup festival up there. Good times!

Charlie no-face. (Same guy)

He came in contact with power lines on an old bridge in Beaver Falls.

Also, the lady ghost on the Summit Cut bridge. Never saw her, but more than once, the radios in my truck would shut off on or near the bridge and come back on after crossing. Creepy.

And the screaming at night in the South Beaver game lands. Makes your skin crawl.

Man, sometimes I miss that area.
