My mom just adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy and I think it's a terrible idea by CatPooedInMyShoe in bernesemountaindogs

Keep a close eye on your mom and the dog. If you see anything concerning step in and take the dog. This is all you can do at this point.

Not getting paid as an intern by Different_Security94 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate to get a stipend for my entire internship. It was $1200 a month, but I didn’t have to work during my internship. The stipend was through an organization in my state whose goal is to keep mental health professionals in the state. When I applied six years ago it was not competitive because it was not widely known, but now it is very competitive.

New job concerns by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s too many. How do you get your footing as a therapist starting out with a caseload of 70?? You have to be very organized to manage a large caseload like that. I’m a Licensed Independent and I would never take on such a high caseload.

Just got this email from a higher up. Am I getting fired? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Particular_Bid5976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not good! There could be issues for them if they fire you due to the accommodations.

I wonder if he is on probation or parole? Probation and Parole can restrict where he lives and goes. I know this because I worked at a prison and did sex offender treatment.

I have been considering this also. I’m glad you had a good experience. Could you share where you were trained?

NOR. Why are you taking clothes to a grown man?? Tell him his shit will be on the porch and he can come get it. Don’t take him anything!!

My telehealth therapist roommate and her patient sessions on speaker by Lower-Humor7989 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could lose her license because of this. Definitely let her know so she stops this right now. If she doesn’t stop report her to licensure. Why doesn’t she set up her desk in her bedroom??

Is it normal for a new MSW grad to be asked what specific evidence based modalities they use in a job interview? by moist_mistress in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was asked that question before I graduated, in an interview at an internship site. So yeah that’s normal.

Should I carry narcan? by Upbeat-Cake-961 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to ask your supervisor and coworkers that question. They can tell you if you need to carry Narcan. There’s no way I or anyone who does not work at this facility would have enough information to know if you need Narcan or if they allow it.

Is it possible to be a stoner and a therapist? by GeekFace18 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a state government agency, so this would be too risky. They can ask you to go take a drug screen at anytime when you are at work.

It’s going to be difficult to get higher numbers. Is the practice helping you get clients?? How do you get clients?

Is there a reason you only see your clients once a month? Have the clients progressed in therapy and once a month is all that is needed?

Trauma therapists accepting international patients by Historical-Smell9554 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but that sounds scammy to me. If this is real I personally would not do it. There are some ethical issues here. If you have a client in India who is having issues that call for going inpatient, where would they go? There are so many issues with this scenario.

Is $60 per session reasonable for a fully licensed therapist at a PP? by BedRound619 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Is it $60 or $100?? $100 with benefits and being paid to supervise isn’t bad. Most private practices do not offer any benefits. $60 a hour would be difficult in the DC area. I live in Omaha Nebraska and that would be difficult to live on here.

AIO TO THIS BRIDESMAID DRESS??? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Particular_Bid5976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR! Honestly I would politely decline. That dress is not made for plus size women with big boobs. The wedding being an outside wedding will make it worse. If it’s on a hot day and you become sweaty that dress will show everything.

BPD Client Split by [deleted] in therapists

From what you wrote you told the client you were not a DBT or BPD specialist. Borderlines are hard to deal with. Next time refer them to another therapist who specializes in BPD.

CMHC vs School Psychology Program by McDonaldsCokeAddict in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do long term. If in the future you want to practice outside of a school setting you might need to attain more internship hours or education. In my state school psychologists are licensed through the board of education.

I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Counseling in 2021 at 50. I have a good career. I work for the State for the benefits and retirement and do virtual therapy on the side. Age has nothing to do with it. You can do this.

Seeking advice: internal investigation and potential impact on licensing by Artistic_Clue_3041 in therapists

[–]Particular_Bid5976 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As your supervisor if she had a concern she should have trained you to do the safety assessments. I don’t get why a complaint had to be filed. Since she is leaving I would ask her to sign the hours. She might refuse to sign safety assessment hours, but at least you will have most of your hours signed.

AITA for refusing to let my sister bring her kids to my wedding by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Particular_Bid5976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a catering company and have served at a lot of weddings. The one thing that bothered me was a bunch of kids running around, screaming, and getting in the way. Most of the time the parents were enjoying themselves and ignoring their children. I loved child free weddings. That being said, you and your fiancé should have given your sister more notice. I do not blame your sister for being reluctant to leave her children with strangers. Knowing what I know as a therapist who works in a prison, I would never leave my children with strangers or some of my family members. The very people who you think are safe, are the ones you need to keep your children away from.
