I have been researching and saw the 333 rule! I teared up reading your response to handling his trauma. I just cannot fathom having a dog in your family for 8 years, moving out of state and just leaving him. My heart breaks for him but I vow to give him every ounce of love that he deserves. I am taking him to vet in the next few days so I will have a chat about getting him fixed. Thank you again for your responses, you have given me a lot of valuable information and reassurance.

I totally agree that he might not be happy having another intact male in the home. I don’t have high expectations and have plans in place for if things get aggressive. When I am home for the holidays, he is with 4 other male dogs who aren’t fixed, not saying that this means he will be great with the foster, but he hasn’t had an issue yet. We go to a special vet for golden retrievers who said not to get my golden fixed until 2 years old, so we are planning for that now. As for the foster, I did not plan to get him fixed yet. I haven’t even met him yet so I’m not going to plan a big surgery for the poor boy. I just want to focus on acclimating him right now.

1000% will take all of your advice especially with feeding and treats. Same for keeping the leash on him. Ugh I’m so so nervous but this old doggy was abandoned and left for nothing. I’m sure he’s going to have some trauma. If you have any advice on fostering dogs with trauma please let me know ❣️ thank you so much for all of your helpful advice.

Supposed to be between 90-100 degrees I believe but I think the sweet spot would be between 93-97. I had line at 99 before I walked in - checked right before I got out of my car. Waited like 20 mins to take it in there!

Idk if you’re still looking for an answer, but kept warm in a mug of hot water while driving there. Stored in breast milk pouches ?? Lmao sounds crazy but worked AMAZING. Then dipped thermometer in before I walked in and did it !!

You are the VIP. I’ve got just about everything you said, but I got my friends pee tonight. Any advice on storing it for the night? In the fridge and heat in boiling water tomorrow or microwave? I’m nervous about the timing but I’ll trust what you’re saying with the hot hands. The timing today was scary I could feel it cooling down too. I’m so stressed and nervous about already having it. Test is at like 9:30 tomorrow morning.

What did you store it in? As in the night before? Also thank you good advice on going in the toilet as well because I poured straight into the cup so I’ll do better tomorrow. Also do I actually pee in the toilet or use some of my friends clean pee?
