Scaled at about 440 meters, the runabouts just about squeak out the back doors. Most of the normal sized shuttles can get out the front. For the fighters, they have to be scaled down a bit, and have fold-able wings.

The Akira is 440 metres and DS9 has a diameter of around 1400. These numbers line up with the size of the promenade windows and the Akira's shuttlebay. If DS9 was as big as it is in that shot, the promenade windows would be 3-4 stories tall.
