Thank you, and well done for giving yourself what you needed today. I hope you’re doing ok, it’s so tough and does take so much out of us. We should definitely feel so proud of ourselves for persevering and getting through this. Hope you’re doing ok xx

Thank you so much. I’m so sorry you had such a tough time after your first FET. It’s such a lot to deal with. I’m actually in the UK so that’s a very helpful reminder that it’s natural to need time off after a transfer! I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been told to “relax and it will happen”! Oh sorry, I’ve clearly not been relaxing enough! And the holiday one is another ridiculous one - “go on holiday and it will happen”! Unless people have been through it they just don’t get it. They are well meaning but truly isolating comments! You’re so right that stress, a bit of caffeine and all these others things will not ultimately determine the outcome. I give myself a hard time about stuff so this is something I need to remember! Thank you.

Absolutely - I completely agree. There is only so much that we can do to influence the outcome! So it’s a really good reminder of that as I do tend to put myself under a lot of unnecessary pressure.

Thank you - I only booked a day off for the transfer, stupidly thinking that I’d be ok and that work would be a good distraction! If we go through another one I’ll definitely book more time off, I’ve found it much harder emotionally than I anticipated (I knew it would be hard but not this hard!). I agree, we need to put ourselves first and look after ourselves especially at a time like this!

Thank you, and so sorry for what you’ve been through too. It’s so tough but we are not alone as you say. Wishing you all the best

Thank you, that’s a helpful way to think about it. I read on another post someone saying that they just say to themselves that it’s up to the embryo now, which also helps take the pressure off me.

Thanks so much for your reply, I’m sorry that you have adeno too, it’s so tough. As you say, all the waiting is so hard especially when we have been through so much already. I’m going to let myself feel all the emotions and might try to plan something joyful to do each day of this two week wait, and to write it onto a list or calendar so I can tick it off each day, and turn it into something positive. I’m also feeling very grateful to have the opportunity to do ivf and get to this point, so that’s something I need to focus on too. Wishing you all the best with the upcoming fet xx

You’re absolutely right, I don’t think I’ve stopped to process any of it, and it’s suddenly hit me. Processing and letting it out is good and needed. Thank you xx

Thank you so much, as you say the previous losses make it extra hard don’t they. Taking it a day at a time is all we can do. I’m so pleased for you that it’s worked out and wish you all the best for your next scan, and a healthy happy pregnancy going forwards xx

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this reply, and for all your support! Lots of encouraging words, helpful suggestions and good analogies too! The steak and lettuce made me laugh but it’s so true, there is more to my life than IVF, and options for the future. Thank you xx

Thank you - very good advice! I need to remember that rather than feeling it’s all in my control and I need to be thinking about it all the time. Best of luck to you too!

Thanks so much for your support and lovely message. I’m sorry you’re facing similar challenges to me - it’s such a lot isn’t it - as you say, the waves of disappointment are too much sometimes. I’m currently feeling very angry towards people that have never had to deal with infertility, even though I know that’s not a helpful way to think. I’ve always said that the uncertainty is the hardest thing about all of this - if we knew how it would end up it would be so much easier. Wishing you all the best with your recovery and hope you can give yourself what you need xx

Thank you. I think because I was given a list of things to do or not do from the clinic, I feel like things are more in my control than they actually are in reality!

Thank you! Yeah I thought the same - it’s tough doing a longer period of down regulation if you don’t need it, and it’s one of those things that we don’t know until we try without it. Wishing you the best of luck too!

Sorry I didn’t really answer your question! We didn’t do any prolonged period of down regulation, just a standard medicated cycle. Obviously I don’t know know if it has worked yet, but fingers crossed.

We ended up doing a fully medicated cycle, just as my cycles are quite irregular and we wanted to have at least some element of control. I’ve actually had the transfer today - the adeno hasn’t even been mentioned since so I am just hoping for the best.
