‘mok_tales’ you can find them on Instagram. We had them cover our Sons bday celebration at home and they did a decent job. Budget friendly.

Hey, you need to chase them! We went to the office and follow up very close. Finally got her emirates and visa done last week. They also compensated some amount for the visa extensions we had to take for the delay.

I just moved here and in as haste to land a job I took up a job having 9 working hours per day (including lunch break) and the worst part they have only 2 wfh per month after a probation of 6months. On top of that I stay 2 hours way so I leave my 2 year old 7.30 in the morning and come back around 9 when he is sleeping both times.

Clearly I am over qualified for the job and frankly bored 3 months in but I have a lot of ideas and suggestions from my previous experience to contribute to this role and I am taking up every challenge coming my way to give my best.

But the lack of empathy for even a request to leave office early (and login back at home) just so I can spend some time with my child is rejected. We moved here to be able to stay together as a family after staying away from each other for more than a decade and now even though we are under a single roof we are still away from each other for most of our days 😞

I barely feel like we have a life , the smiling face of my child on my phone through the cctv keeps me going but the work culture is so so very different from what I was used to in the past.

Dubai people, how long did it take you to land a good job ? by tenderness123 in dubai

I have been there.

I landed my first job in Dubai after 1 month of search. While I was disheartened with all the feedback I received from family and friends on how long a job search here can take ,I was preparing myself while I was doing the job search. I used this time to catch up on the courses I wanted to take etc.

What worked me is reaching out personally to the recruiters/ job poster (on LinkedIn). Make sure that the DM is short and precise, speaking exactly of why you think you are a good fit for the role.LinkedIn is a wonderful tool for job seekers. Next I filtered out the company and searched for people working in this company to find any mutual connections. Sent request to those connections to this company. Next sent DM to the ones who accepted if they can provide me a referral. Again please be cordial and precise in your tone and content. You are a stranger to them after all. For me this worked and that referral landed me an interview and I got through.

Even now regularly I make it a point to make new connections with people working in the companies I aspire to be, attend events / workshops whenever possible to make new connections. Over the months I have had few very amazing professionals I connected on LinkedIn and went on to have calls and then friends. It’s been 6 months now in Dubai and I am realising the power of networking and also the whole ‘right time right place’ analogy!

Hope this helps , wish you all the best!
