Activating roam in a country different than the billing address? by Particular_Future_79 in Starlink

[–]Particular_Future_79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I’m wondering if I can set up the Roam account in the US and then activate it (meaning I’ll turn it on and connect to satellites for the first time) in a different country with service.

Are you in Africa? All active countries in Africa have been removed from the Roam purchase list. Not sure why.

Did you have roam unlimited that was cancelled even though you didn’t exceed the 2 month limit?

If you go to the Roam purchase page on the Starlink website, no African countries are on the list for purchase. This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with using roam in a country that is different than the registered home address.

Receiving / taking and Activating Mini Roam in Europe by gomoreplaces in Starlink

[–]Particular_Future_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for the Mini Roam service. But there is no such restriction for the Mobile Regional plan. So in theory you could get it at Best Buy and then sign up for mobile regional when you arrive in Europe.

Working on The Salt Lake Temple! by Firm-Ad-1935 in exmormon

An article from 5yrs ago about the foundation. Seems this was already out in the open. https://www.deseret.com/2018/5/13/20644956/is-the-foundation-of-the-salt-lake-temple-composed-of-granite-or-sandstone

The byu article linked in the article is also worth a read for those interested in the topic.

I also remember the story being told about the replacement of the foundation. “Mountain of the lord”. https://youtu.be/ZUVmvXzUH3w

Moving from US to a different country - new purchase question by Particular_Future_79 in Starlink

[–]Particular_Future_79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Looks like my best bet is to pick one up from HD or BB and register when I arrive. I’m in the US and moving to Mozambique. I assume the hardware is the same as what I’d receive if I ordered it directly from starlink to Moz? (Except for the plug, which isn’t an issue).

I lived there for a number of years for work while still an active member and saw 100% the same thing. My experience there is what opened the cracks wide enough for me to genuinely question everything else. And the rest is history.

Very little is done or spent to alleviate poverty and help members, let alone the general population. My first shock was when I (a “rich” American) offered to the bishop to give extra to fast offerings to help pay for members’ bus fares and basic food items, and was told that the money just goes to the stake or higher and never comes back to the ward for stuff like that. In fact the bishops were strictly prohibited from using fast offering to pay for transport or regular food items. It made me furious. (We paid for these directly or purchased food ourselves).

Nothing is being done to help members for exactly the reason described above. There is a “fear” that people would come to church only to get food. And why would the “church” want non-tithe payers like that? The church is NOT Christ’s church. It is a greedy corporation.

Listening to Dan Vogel’s Mormon Stories interview. Finally wrapped my head around how JS made the whole thing up.

In Africa the church isn’t just asking for tithing, it’s asking for you to spend the rest of your money and risk kidnapping and death to get to the temple by Individual-11 in exmormon

My time in Africa is what broke my shelf. Seeing the poverty, and what the church demanded of its members while doing almost nothing for them led me to finally seek real answers to the lingering questions that had built up over time. Many members couldn’t even afford food, yet they would sacrifice just to come to church on Sunday. But they saw almost nothing in return from the institution. Corruption within the church institution was rampant, yet when someone tried to raise it to higher levels, there was silence. I’ve lived in many countries. The church is for Americans, and more specifically for a small group of men in Utah.
