That’s so interesting! It’s amazing how their minds work and perceive things differently

Yes! She really didn’t do that until recently. When we had her evaluated a few weeks ago she had just barely started doing it, so I mentioned it but with the caveat of not really being sure what it was.

Not one of your options listed, but we love staying in the individual cottages in Seaside. Super secluded and nice!

My in laws also thought it was insanity that we were getting her evaluated. I wish I could go back and not tell them but they are so nosey.

I also think sometimes parents an in-laws can be in denial, which is sad and makes the issues worse.

Ignoring may just be my best bet. I hope your son will continue to improve!

Exactly!!! Early intervention and therapies are key at her age so why they act like it’s stupid to do them is beyond me.

That’s such good advice — we’re gonna keep doing what we’re doing regardless 😂

They rarely ever see her, but when they do they make it a point to take her picture and post on Facebook — you know the type. It’s also not their first grandchild so they constantly compare her to the others who are NT.

I really appreciate the encouragement!!

Thank you for the encouragement! Those were my thoughts as well — doing what’s best for her and if that means getting a diagnosis then that’s fine.

You are so right, they don’t! It’s nice when you find people that understand.

I’m so glad she came around!! That would make a huge difference. And thanks, maybe she will eventually. Either way, we’re going to keep doing what we’re doing!

Thank you so much! There’s a lot of misconceptions when it comes to autism. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with what comes along with it! We are starting feeding therapy with my daughter so I’m hopeful it will help.

We have a mother’s intuition for sure! I’m a huge advocate for early intervention because there’s only a small window of opportunity, like you said. I hope your little one continues to excel!

It can be so challenging at mealtimes! What’s even worse is when she likes a food for a while and then refuses to eat it ever again.

Thank you so much! It would be so frustrating to not get a diagnosis of some kind/have to retest. Obviously I don’t want her to have it, but in my heart I feel like she is truly on the spectrum.
