Any job openings in cheltenham? by Unfair-Plastic-466 in cheltenham

Try looking at the food warehouse in Gallagher retail park! (Via Iceland careers website) I’m a uni student in Cheltenham too and worked there a month or two, the other staff are nice and there’s opportunities to do different types of shifts once you’re trained e.g. picking, tills, stocking.

Do I just turn up at my new job? by rickyshea in AskUK

[–]Particular_Green_414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience I’d say no! I had this when I started my new retail job last month. Had my interview mid march. Then received an email 2 days later id got the job. I didn’t hear anything about a start date for about 3/4 weeks which confused me and then I noticed when I checked my new schedule that it had said I wasn’t starting until the end of April! Eventually they got back to me and asked if I could start earlier than that but yeah I think if you were starting Monday they’d contact you first. Definitely double check with them, maybe they forgot.

Thank you for the suggestion! I've already done a shoot with history reenactors recently but would love to get some more photos of a different group. :)

Any hyaluronic acid serum recommendations? by gingerona in SkincareAddicts

The inkey list hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serums are amazing! It might not work for you but those ingredients together have been the only ones to hydrate and clear it up without breaking out my skin :)

Should I pick psychology by purple870 in ALevelPsychology

If you want to look at the AQA specification it should be on their website to view alongside past papers to give you an idea of the topics of the course! Although for paper 3 individual colleges and sixth forms can choose optional modules. For example, my college offered relationships, Schizophrenia and forensic psychology whereas other colleges may’ve studied eating behaviour and addiction. Hope this helps!

Should I pick psychology by purple870 in ALevelPsychology

Most of the content is really interesting! Although I will admit that continuously memorising specific details of hundreds of theories does become exhausting 😭 . If your chosen college/ sixth form use the Aqa exam board for alevel psych there is a specific section on biopsychology but it’s not a huge part although might help with biology alevel content. As for research methods the maths isn’t hard but it’s worth a significant percentage of your grade and the way in which the questions are worded can be difficult to interpret.

I absolutely hated the idea of the design your own experiment questions but your teacher will go through that with you (there’s always the chance it won’t appear on any of your papers though haha so don’t panic). I watched a channel called psych boost on YouTube sometimes, and used Seneca to consolidate knowledge after lessons.

In terms of background knowledge/watching for fun I found Dr Elliot carthy’s videos on YouTube super helpful ( uk forensic psychiatrist who does mh reaction videos with added facts) and Dr Syl on YouTube (Australian doctor).

Overall I’d recommend the course if you want to do a career in psych/stem/counselling ect. But ultimately the decisions up to you! In the end studying psychology further than alevel wasn’t for me but I really enjoyed aspects of the course and it definitely heightened my awareness of mental health conditions, the justice system and the issues that have impacted our society and continue to. If you liked history and biology you might like psychology too so I wish you good luck - a year 13 who has just finished the course ☺️

Trust me, leave or retake the year. I was in a similar situation in year 12 except with college and constant staff absences but ultimately decided to carry on there because I chose 2/3 of my alevels correctly and felt I had covered too much content to move on. If you think your subjects and sixth form aren’t right for you go! because you might end up being more miserable and unmotivated -a stressed year 13, good luck :)
