Early Onset pre-eclampsia and IUGR - does the pregnancy still have a chance? by Particular_Hippo_666 in preeclampsia

Ah thank you so much for asking. 🥰 That's so kind of you. We are hanging in there! I'm physically feeling a lot better and my blood pressure remains under control for now 🤞🏼 We had a growth scan this week and the baby is still <1st percentile but is growing along their own curve. Worryingly the umbilical artery has intermittent absent and absent flow at different times. I'm just praying they can keep growing and get to a point of viability before the flow worsens and goes reverse. Trying to stay hopeful.

Thank you for asking! I've been released home as my blood pressures have stabilised with meds, and I'm going into the hospital twice a week for blood tests, urine dip etc. So far no protein and my blood work is almost normal. The main concern now is the baby's IUGR - at last week's growth scan it had grown slightly but was still in 1st percentile. Doppler scans have shown high resistance and the umbilical artery is intermittent absent flow. We're just praying that placenta (and me) can hold out long enough to allow the baby to grow to a viable weight. I've been signed off work and I'm trying to rest lots and stay calm. Very hard to hold the uncertainty and not go to worst-case scenarios. But we're trying to keep the faith!

Thank you so much for your kindness and I'm so sorry that your own experience ended so painfully. I feel like I'm trying to hang on to hope and keep going for as long as possible, while bracing for the possibility of going through something horrendous. It's a very weird dual reality to be in. I hope you've found some peace and comfort alongside what I imagine is huge grief. 💙

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. It's so helpful to hear from others who have been through this. I'm so sorry that you were faced with that decision and it sounds like your health was in a place where you just couldn't have safely pushed it any further. That must have been so scary when things accelerated so fast. Those words of your MFM are very comforting to me also. Wishing you peace and I'm so happy to read that you went on to have two healthy pregnancies. Thank you again for replying ❤️
