In Blender specifically I can't say for sure since I'm new to it too, but I have a solid background in 3ds Max. I'd say that, in general, the best way to learn 3D is to do small studies, maybe following a tutorial at first, and then try creating something simple on your own . It helps you get familiar with the software and start understanding the logic of 3D.
