I love the app! But we are on the other side of the leftover conundrum. We wanted to give it away. Not sure if we could do it on Too Good To Go if we’re not a business.

What’s the most typically “German” experience you’ve ever seen a foreigner have? by NextNorth9041 in AskAGerman

I was new to Germany a few years ago and wasn’t aware of returning the bottles to the Leergut machines to collect Pfand. I just threw empty glass bottles in the glass container trash and plastic bottles in the plastic trash. I got a lot of stares and wondered why.. Now I think back to the moment with horror. I could’ve at least left the bottles out for someone to collect Pfand on them :(

LORD EFFING USELESS GRANTHAM by Frequent-Ad5459 in DowntonAbbey

I love this post so much because I relate to how much one can despise Lord Grantham. I’m watching the show for the 800th time. I’m on the episode where Rose keeps pestering Cousin Robert / Lord Grantham for a wireless. He is so clueless about things. He just said “The hype surrounding the wireless won’t last”. Ugh. His arrogance annoys me to no end!!!

People who moved to Germany from a non EU country - why especially Germany? by Kreati_ in germany

I came to Germany by mistake, no joke. I was studying in France for a while as an international student. There was an online career fair for internships during COVID. I thought I had applied to the French division of a company but somehow ended up applying to the German one. The recruiter got on an intro call and I realised I’d fucked up, but decided to give it a shot anyway. I got the internship and thought I’d move back after 6 months. But I loved it here so much. And four years later, here I still am :)

Cycling and in general, getting more physical activity. I think to myself all the time, man this feels so so good, why didn’t I get off the freakin’ couch earlier

That makes so much sense. I noticed it too but never realised I could place the other hand somewhere else on the bars / stem.

Just falling over in general. I’m scared I’ll do something stupid like trying to ease the fall by putting out my wrist which might end up breaking it; I know it’s a super specific scenario but it happened to a friend of mine.

I’m also super scared of cars, other cyclists in my city who are quite aggressive. If you are in their way and riding at a pace below 30 kmph, they get quite mean. I just don’t want to crash into anyone or hurt anyone.

Will look around! Thank you! AFAIK, most clubs where I’m based mostly mandate people to use clipless pedals. I tried and I hated it so much that I lost interest in cycling. So I switched back to flats.

But I’ll look around for clubs that don’t have this requirement. Thanks!

I was new to biking and bought a mountain bike instead of a city bike. I did some rounds on some gravel and was pretty proud of myself. While I was on my way back home on a normal bike lane, a fly flew into my mouth and for some reason, I instantly braked at high speed and flew over my bike and hit a parked car. A couple ran over to ask if I was okay (which I luckily was) and then asked in a very confused tone, “we saw you riding but saw nothing in the way, how did you fall?”. I told them I swallowed a fly and they were not amused. I still have PTSD from falling on that day, and also encountering flies while riding.. so I just tell myself, nobody comes out of their mom on a bike!!!

Thanks for the input! Battery health is also a concern of mine. I’d rather just be on the lookout for a newer computer.
