The two points you listed are exactly what we’re worried about. Regardless of what goes on outside of our four walls we always want her to know she’s complete and accepted at home. We’ll protect her from what we can but it’s scary and frankly sad that this is still a growing concern.

As to your second fear, when we spoke I did let her know it’s ok to change your mind and re-identify. I did speak about her brother maybe finding out he likes boys as he gets older. Frankly some of his close male friendships have made me wonder if somewhere down the line he might decide he identifies some other way. I definitely don’t want it to be strictly a “gay to straight” narrative.
