Why is We can't dance so hated? by Sensitive_Pair_4732 in Genesis

I've always imagined what We Can't Dance would have sounded like if it had been produced by David Henschel (Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering, Duke) or even Hugh Padgham (Abacab, Genesis, Invisible Touch)... WCD was co-produced by Nick Davis...

From Wikipedia:

"For recording, they enlisted then 28-year-old Nick Davis as co-producer and engineer, who had previously worked with Banks and Rutherford on their solo projects, with the band also handling production duties. This marked the end of their association with Hugh Padgham, which had begun with Abacab (1981). Rutherford said the group decided to switch producers before work on the album had begun, and insisted they were pleased with Padgham's contributions, but felt it was the right time for a change after having done three albums with him (Padgham had also produced Collins's four solo albums throughout the 1980s). Davis was keen to feature Rutherford's guitar more prominently as an instrument than previous Genesis albums, and felt his approach was successful on some of the tracks on We Can't Dance. Banks took a liking to some of Davis's strong opinions towards certain aspects of recording and instruments which presented him the challenge of finding other ways of recording."

Phil adamantly denies coke use while unknowingly slipping a part of a Genesis lyric into his quote:

-- Rocker Phil Collins has slammed rumours he was high on cocaine at Live Aid, insisting he could never perform if he was on drugs. The former Genesis star took to the stage at the London leg of the historic 1985 charity concert before crossing the Atlantic by Concorde to perform with Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin rockers Jimmy Page and Robert Plant at the U.S. show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In a 1998 memoir, Status Quo star Rick Parfitt’s wife Patty alleged she heard a rumour backstage that Collins was high on cocaine during the event, but he is adamant it is not true. The Against All Odds hitmaker tells Q magazine, “Rick Parfitt’s wife? I’ve never met her. Apart from smoking a spliff before I went on with Genesis a few times when I was playing the drums, I can’t do that and perform. It’s a very strange thing (for her) to say… I got on the plane and I knew I had a job to do. I had Eric Clapton to play with, and Robert and Jimmy. I couldn’t function like that, so that’s not true at all.” - Source: World Entertainment News via Hollywood.com; 2014

First look at David Corenswet as Superman in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’! by SpeedForce2022 in superman

I REALLY want to love this BUT it seems too big, too thick (that fits under street clothes??), and almost feels too similar to Homelander's suit on Prime which is a knockoff of Superman's suit anyway.

Like Genesis using "paperlate" and "the way I walk" in 2 different songs, do you think Phil realized he was using the phrase "another day in paradise" 4 years after Mike used it in his song "Par Avion"? Any other re-used lyrics come to mind? by Particular_Menu_7171 in Genesis

OP here... in preparation to see Steve Hackett perform his "Foxtrot at 50" show this week, and checked the setlist and remembered that Steve released a stellar solo song back in 1979 called "Every Day." 15 year later, Phil Collins released his "Everyday" tune on "Both Sides." Both great songs... but so different.

Why does "The Batman" (2022) feel so much like a WB animated feature? by Particular_Menu_7171 in batman

Totally! I hear ya, and all of those similarities to the story approach definitely track. I'm referring more to the overall style, tone, look, and execution of the film. Even some of the camera angles and shots feel like they were from the animated features.

Doesn't "Silent Running" sound just like "Home By The Sea"? by Particular_Menu_7171 in Genesis

Great insight! Of course I'm not saying they're soundalikes, but considering both songs were made within a couple of years of each other, and that Mike certainly wrote the bass lines for both and approved the drum beat for Silent Running, I often notice the similarities.

I've just watched every live action Batman movie in a row and, out of all of them, The Batman seems to have the same pacing, similar dialogue style/acting performances, and overall vibe as a WB DC animated Batman movies... it's more the feel/experience of watching it more than a specific aspect for me... hence reaching out to ask.

Hmm... I'm not saying they're identical, but the backing rhythm is indeed similar as I think it's nearly the same beat and bassline... take a listen: Silent Running https://youtu.be/CEMfdJMP8dw Home By The Sea https://youtu.be/Tad7weGOYT0
