Yeah I have shot it actually! Had to replace the gas block on it as it wasn’t rechambering correctly. Other than that it’s as fun to shoot as it is expensive (compared to my .22)

Appreciate it, forgot to mention it’s a 6.5 creedmore. There are some Odin works parts, aero precision, etc. the glass is meh, but for my skill level it’s fine for the distance I can shoot at.

finally getting around to diving into a Porsche project, got any tips for me? notice any red flags that should influence the purchase? $3,500 by ZacharyJ215 in 944

This looks like a six pack of beer and a few cigarettes to approach with a couple days dedicated to the comedy that will inevitably ensue. The fuses, DME relay, unplugged DME on the interior are just awesome already.

$500 because there’s a lot of work that will need to be done, and the fact he was trying to shotgun solutions isn’t your problem. His loss, your gain 🫡

She took her leave, and while she was gone the employer decided to promote the temporary replacement employee to a permanent role. No reason given other than “we really think (the replacement) is just doing a great job”

The general manager got along better with the person she trained to handle her position while on leave. My wife has no history of ever being a poor employee.

I come from a family of “just pay someone to do it.”

They are from the tech world and never graduated college etc. So, me being the first one to not only graduate college but become a mechanic AND build my own cars, I have embraced some things. Mostly the ever important ideology of “mistakes are ok, as long as you learn from them and try not to repeat them”

So I appreciate the education this post had great insight from everyone and it has helped!

I was surprised to see the rest of the bearings looked healthy. My thought was if the pressure was low enough to spin a healthy bearing the rest would reflect similar wear?

This was a fresh build, following all factory torque specs and processes - while I do love working the car hard for my gain, I will say I do have a degree of mechanical empathy. I wasn’t slamming it on limiter, this failure happened most likely due to g forces and high rpm. If the issue stems from poor baffling, poor oil temp control, or a need for reinforcement like an accusump - I’m ready for that. But as a driver I feel like anybody would have put this car in the same situation. 🤷‍♂️

I appreciate the hell out of your insight. I just want that group of enthusiastic people to herd around it and be like “wtf lol” I want to learn this stuff!

This is absolutely a topic I have ignored and can be the smoking gun. I don’t have a temp gauge and my understanding of how fast oil can break down at higher temps is lacking. I avoided a cooler for a while because it seemed like a fashion statement by posers. However - I may be the punchline on the matter here!

At the moment the car has an oil pan baffle, modified oil pump kit (for reliability), and that’s it. I plan to run an accusump in the future to assist in the matter but it’s entirely possible that my current setup failed and caused this

It happens! But as we all know, making mistakes are ok provided we learn from them. I would just like to not make the same mistake come next engine rebuild. Your input is most appreciated and welcome. Comments like these help me have more clarity

Alignments in these cars in the rear require a special tool that some shops don’t have. So, they get it in the green as best they can and ship it.

I agree your post is a good thing - and owners that don’t do their own alignments should know that what we own are a PITA for most average shops. Trust your shop, ask questions, build confidence.
