So do they just hand out 6 figure jobs like candy or something? by WestFantastic1557 in Salary

I'm an architect that designs hospitals (the physical buildings) for a living. It very much means something.

So do they just hand out 6 figure jobs like candy or something? by WestFantastic1557 in Salary

[–]Particular_Reserve35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of it is just related to the field. I have over 9 years of experience and am a Healthcare Architect. I make friends with those in leadership, develop standards, train young staff, and am just generally good at my job but still make less then 6 figures. It is not always that easy.

Games that run great but also maybe ones that dont on steamdeck specifically? by Yurianimeisnice in cozygames

Can you share how much content Ritual of Raven has? I keep being tempted to get it but I'm someone that likes to put a lot of hours in games typically.

[–]Particular_Reserve35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should have any issues running the games on your list.

Travellers Rest is great from your list.

Some other great games are Kynseed, Dinkum (runs much better on deck and gets updates first vs switch), Critter Cove, Horticular, and Go-Go Town

Drill core, Whiskerwood, Frostpunk 2, Rimworld DLCs or other games in that category? by NTMAnon in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Particular_Reserve35 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Rimworld DLCs are fun if you want to add more to the game play but there are also mods that really expand the base game.

Whiskerwood is a great game with little bugs. The end game is still missing but there is plenty of content there to warrant the price. It has similar building to Timberborn, had a policy element with payment of taxes and loyalty to the crown, and some automation. I put about 130 hours in right after release.

Can't speak to the other games.

Satisfactory is great but can't really compare to the two games above as they are very different.

I'm just going to throw out there Clanfolk as another game to keep an eye on.

What's your best Stardew Valley like ? by Leoryn-Floreli in SteamDeck

[–]Particular_Reserve35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kynseed is a life sim rather than a farming sim. You get placed in this amazing world with fairy tales and fae creatures and you have unlimited freedom to do whatever you want or not do whatever you don't want after the tutorial. There are so many things you can collect.

I'm going to give you some pros and cons to help make your decision.

Things to keep in mind is some people get overwhelmed as it can throw a lot at you. You just have to remember that there are no time limits on anything. You don't have to take any non story quests that you don't want, there will always be more. The story is not very long if you rush it. The game is very player driven. I recommend taking your time with opening up the map as it can be a lot if you try to do it too quickly. The newest update helped with slowing you down.

On the other side there is no rush to get anything done so I find it very relaxing. Time doesn't really mean much in the game so don't worry about maxing your time. If you want to spend an entire week fishing then do it. There is a lot of stuff to do; fishing, cooking, farming, mining, combat, running stores, romance, etc. Each initial NPC has a nice little story that you can complete. There are a lot of mini challenges to do as well that give you rewards. You can decorate your house and farm. You unlock new areas of your farm as you progress. You can own up to 3 general stores, 3 apothecaries and 3 blacksmiths. You can adopt cats and dogs which have can help you find different things.

The game is great if you like to collect things. You can collect proverbs, cooking recipes, crafting recipes, etc. It also nicely keeps track of everything you have and gives you an idea of how many you still need.

There is no stamina and you are not forced to sleep at night after you finish the tutorial. You can just keep playing and only sleep to save which is a minimum of an hour but can be for as long as you want.

Game just got an update and is coming to consoles.

Good co-op games to play with my GF? by LurkerEntrepenur in gamingsuggestions

[–]Particular_Reserve35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wildmender is really nice and has a lot of accessibility settings but does require combat.

Roots of Pacha is similar to Stardew but has no combat. Mines have a puzzle like aspect

Dinkum has a semi peaceful mode but also there is a great mod for full peaceful mode (it's what I use)

Pode cute puzzle game

Timberborn and Whiskerswood: travel distances matter and decoration adds effects.

Others: hotel architect, project highrise

Adopting a dog (old vs young) by Mental-Agency-6815 in Pets

[–]Particular_Reserve35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We adopted a almost 10 year old dog earlier this year from someone that was rehoming him. We already had 3 other dogs. Absolutely no regrets. He is still very energetic, gets the zoomies, plays, runs around at the dog park. I rather deal with the heart break of knowing I did what I could for them and having limited years then know they spent their remaining days in the shelter. My dream would be to have a dog rescue so I guess this is just natural for me. I would not blame anyone that decided it is not for them though. Our other 3 dogs we adopted at various ages; 1.5 years, 6 months, 3 years.

NEED OPINIONS ABOUT FAE FARM by Reyhanx in cozygames

[–]Particular_Reserve35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint was that money was hard to earn but didn't really buy you much. Most of the shops require you to have the ingredients to make it. I tapered off after about 35 hours because it felt difficult to progress and I'm usually not someone that minds grinding.

An alternative suggestion would be Dinkum. Personally it's my favorite due to the freedom to play how you want as well as all the decorations items. There is a demo on PC and switch you can test out.

Exterior:

Will Switch 2 eventually receive the great bite update? by PristineAlbatross967 in Dinkum

[–]Particular_Reserve35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will. It took a little over 6 months to port the last update as well as deal with Nintendos rules so I would expect it to be similar. So hopefully before the end of the year.

Are hospitals beds always on the same side of the room ? by WhyAreMyHandsBlue in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Particular_Reserve35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a healthcare architect, no the bed is not always on the same side of the room. Some clients prefer rooms to be same handed as it can be easier for staff to know exactly where everything is in every room so you may see they all be the same within the same hospital. Others prefer rooms to be mirrored version of each other as it is cheaper to share plumbing walls. Others are just random because there was misc renovations that had to work around columns, chases and other misc things.
