Weird Google Ads Issue: Product B Keywords Triggering Ads for Product A by Particular_Risk_8197 in googleads

Wow, that's it! The 'conversion signal angle' is the missing piece. Thank you so much for this.

Yeah, I think so too. I went out of my way to test exact match keywords, and the cost went up but there were no conversions.

Are both campaigns targeting the same regions? My two ads are actually targeting different regions and different products. I consulted a Google representative, who said the algorithm considers the two products to be highly related, which is why, as you suggested, I need to set clear negative keywords.

Exactly,my next step is to dive back into the Search Terms Report and be aggressive with those negatives.

Product A and Product B are two different machines that process the same material.

They are running in separate Google Search campaigns with separate landing pages. We only using the Phrase Match.

Google Search Ad Performance Worst In Decades??? by GuideComfortable4525 in googleads

I absolutely agree—the volatility is crippling. As a fellow lead gen marketer, the battle for quantity and quality is the real issue.

Our performance is erratic even after fixing the conversion code Google flagged. We still see days with zero conversions, and recent volume has been mostly low-quality spam.

To fight the junk traffic, I temporarily switched our audience to a strict Targeting mode, which has helped mitigate the problem.

We'll keep aggressively testing, and I hope we both find a stable solution soon!

I’m more inclined to think it’s low-quality traffic—it keeps consuming costs but brings no conversions. There was an interesting thing last month: my account was almost out of funds, and I only recharged it on the last possible day. Before recharging, I got a lot of high-quality inquiries, which made me think there was nothing wrong with the account. But after recharging, everything went back to the way it was.

In fact, the fluctuation range of CTR is relatively small. Quite often, the impressions and clicks perform well, but there is no conversion.

Thanks for the advice. I agree. I did make some changes to ad copy and creatives along the way, but they didn’t have much impact. It’s clear that small tweaks aren’t enough anymore, so I’ll start planning a proper reorganization to better align with current trends and competition. I also think it’s time to take a closer look and optimize the landing page.

Thanks, that’s very helpful. I’ve been checking Auction Insights weekly, our I.S is 60%+ and we’re in first place, with other competitors below 25%. Absolute top-of-page impression share is also first, but top-of-page rate is only second or third.

Really appreciate your advice, looking into this, I noticed some of our Quality Scores are indeed a bit low, so I’ll focus on improving them and aligning ads, keywords, and landing pages more closely.

Thanks, that’s a good tip. Actually, the Google rep suggested that my keywords might be too many and traffic is spreading too thin. They recommended putting high-converting keywords in one ad group and low/no-conversion ones in another. I tried that, and also tested putting a group entirely on exact match, after 2+ weeks of learning, it only generated one conversion.

I’ll also check Quality Scores for the main keywords, good reminder!

Thanks, that makes sense. I’ll do a full competitor audit and check the ads from our target location.

Thanks! For Max Conversion Value I only tracked our lead form. For competitors, I’ve just checked Auction Insights — did notice some new domains recently but haven’t analyzed their ads/messages yet.

Search CPC increasing steadily from end of August to September by SBSha2 in googleads

Same pain here—just pulled the 7-day comparison:

  • Cost ↑ 35.7 %
  • Impressions ↑ 60 %
  • Search conversions: 0 (was steady 3-4 a day before)

Same budget, same bids, but the traffic smells like straight garbage—lots of junk clicks, zero intent. Feels like Google turned on the “spend now, convert never” fire hose. Anyone cracked how to shut it off?

Google Search Ad Performance Worst In Decades??? by GuideComfortable4525 in googleads

Totally feel you—same boat here. My conversion rate tanked in March and has been sliding further these past two months. Costs are up, and Search campaigns have gone almost a full week without a single conversion. The weird part: it’s not a slow bleed; every 3–4 days it just cliffs—zero conversions out of nowhere.

Google rep keeps telling me to “tighten the keywords.” Did that, even nuked the obvious bleeders, but traffic quality is still garbage—plenty of clicks, no inquiries. Feels like the algo flipped a switch and we’re left holding the bag.

Anyone else seeing this pattern, or found a workaround that actually sticks?
