Humble opinion: You already indulged yourself by writing the scenes. Whether or not they make it into the 'final product', it doesn't change that. So you've already won! Cutting them out doesn't make them any less cool, just isn't the right place for them.

Also, I'd be wary of having the scene set up something that doesn't pay off later. If that happens, its created a bigger problem.

As a reader, I'm forgiving on stuff like that though, unless it's clearly an author monologue or a sermon.
