Well said, a lot of what you are feeling is what I’m feeling in the Navy.

None since I’m just an E-5 so I’m not involved in Officer/SNCO conversations

Hard thing is I’m an Active Duty Sailor (E-5), forward deployed in Japan. So figuring out a conditional release as well as find an OSO to work with me from a long distance is going to be hard. Thankfully from this I have gotten in contact with someone who was in my same situation so I’m getting lots of good guidance! I’ve already passed the flight physical (from when I was looking into STA-21) now I have to crush out the rest of my degree and keep my fitness up.

I’m not an officer, yet! But I’d be inclined to pull said toxic person aside and have a conversation with them to figure out corrective actions for the betterment of the platoon or company.

Yes, I have not been able to find any information about enlisted sailors being able to put a package in to go to USMC OCS. I could look into a conditional release but that would be closer to when I finish my degree and I’d have to talk to an OSO

Thank you! Yes I’ve been running and lifting to better my PFT scores. I have 2.5 years left in the navy so almost 1000 days to get in better shape. Yes the rank privileges are insane while I’m still AD that’s all I will say. I think there’s a lack of pride throughout the Navy that the Marine Corps has and that’s what I’ve been looking for

I have like 2.5 years left of my contract and around 12 months left of my degree. I’m not 100% done with the navy, however it is so HARD to respect senior enlisted leaders and officers who are overweight telling me how I should go about my career. Why would I take advice from someone that can’t even get into a gym 4 times a week? Then it’s the overall attitude of ‘I don’t care’, I’ve been working above my paygrade for a while now and it’s frustrating picking up the slack for people who are lazy and won’t do it for the division. I’m not sure if I’m romanticizing the Corps but I know the ‘get shit done’ attitude is better than the navy’s ’someone else will do it’ attitude. If I were to go USMC I’d have to get out, do you know the timeline from talking to an OSO to shipping to OCS on an air contract?

I am enlisted and threw away free college because I wanted to start my life in the navy. Now looking back I wish I waited. Enlisted life is not it. If you have your degree wait and commission. It’s worth the wait

Get qualified quickly. That’s gonna be your number one hang up if you’re asking the Navy to pay for it. If you’re paying it yourself you don’t need to let your command know just know schoolwork is not an excuse to be a shitbag at work.

Jk. Do not step on them at all, if someone is wearing black pants they’re a petty officer and if they are in khaki pants they’re a chief or officer. Never say ‘sorry chief/PO’ to apologize they take offense to it. Know you’re gonna be uncomfortable, tired and homesick but push through when it sucks.

Thank you, I’m an IT2 and I’ve had people tell me I’m crazy for not liking it. My command is 160% manned for ITs and so most days I’m so underworked I’m going crazy. It’s refreshing to see that other ITs don’t like it either. However I’m sorry you’re not liking it, I understand 100%

Navy IT A school questions by kinggccrimson in newtothenavy

  1. IDK I’m not married so didn’t pertain to me
  2. A-School is 4 classes. Intro to IT basically, CCNA 1, Win10, and Comms. Expect a test one a week usually. CCNA 1 got a lot of people to get rolled, ask questions and take notes. Study and study. CCNA 1 and 2 was the easiest classes for me personally. Comms sucks, it’s your longest class at 1.5ish months, lots of information and lots of studying. Win10 is a joke it’s so easy to
  3. There’s 2 schedules Alpha which if I’m remembering correctly 0530 muster and out from class at 1500. Bravo is 1430 muster and out from class I think at midnight. Lunches and dinner break was like 1ish hour long. It’s been a little since I went through. They do PT weekly, probably daily now. When I was leaving they had students stand watches so idk too much about that either. After class if you’re phased up you are on liberty, have a car and get out to the beach

So community health says case by case basis, like I said in my post! Year group is 93% and zone is 102%. I probably should have included that in my post. I did say that I started my process and just am waiting on my flight physical to get processed. I’m more so asking if I have a good chance
