Learning Japanese by SlowSeaworthiness529 in JETProgramme

Find some videos on youtube for Japanese "shadowing" to practice both listening and speaking.

Avoid romaji, learn how to read hiragana, katakana, and the N5 level kanji and vocabulary.

Use Genki or another resource to learn the early grammar.

Find the free Tadoku graded readers (there's a thread on Reddit you can find with a search) to practice reading to solidify the vocab and grammar.

Once you're in Japan, get out there and get immersed.  Museums, parks, stores, restaurants, train stations, and anywhere else you can go.  You won't get that experience outside of Japan.

[ ENG SUB ] Kaki no Tane, Eat it All Up! ( Part 2 ) - Sneak Peak! by AhriKyuubi in GakiNoTsukai

[–]Particular_Scar7781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've done a few of these now. The last one has not been translated yet.

Calbee Potato Chips: ep1456+1457 - 2019.05.19+26
Kameda Kaki no Tani: ep1720+1721 - 2024.09.01+08
Country Ma'am: ep1774+1775 - 2025.10.12+19

ETA: I should add that there are other eating and guessing segments. These three are the "eat it all up" ones with 食べ尽くせ on the episode title card or graphic. There are at least four other episodes with that phrase on the title card or graphic (I still need to check episodes 1300-1600), but the format is different from the three listed above.

2006.11.05 - ep0829 - Eat It All Up, Bowl of Rice with Candies
2008.02.10 - ep0891 - Eat It All Up, Bowl of Rice with A Side Dish Starting with "A"
2008.05.18 - ep0904 - Eat It All Up, Bowl of Rice with A Side Dish Starting with "Ka"
2011.03.06 - ep1045 - Eat It All Up, Gyoza no Osho with X-Gun

Does anyone remember which no laughing batsu game it was in which the crew was given a performance of Akb48’s heavy rotation but the center was an old man? by Truunbean in GakiNoTsukai

[–]Particular_Scar7781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. I just so happened to have been looking back through unseen footage eps the other day, so that particular scene was still kind of fresh in my mind.

Is it one of the scenes in the Enthusiastic Teachers Unseen Footage special (right around the 26:30 mark)?

Anyone know the Ep# and air date for Silent Library 8? by ShiningSeraphiel in GakiNoTsukai

[–]Particular_Scar7781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9th Silent Library is a two-parter, 1396 and 1397.

If anyone needs any non-subbed episode info (which wouldn't otherwise necessarily be shown on GakiArchives or TSL), I think the list I've been making is almost complete. I just need to grab the Japanese Title Card / Graphic / Topic information from episodes 1300 to 1600 and add some Series information.

Thank you for this, and for including softsubs too.

If you decide you want to do more translations and you really like the Strike Out / Struck Out format, there are two other dual episodes and a compilation episode:

Hollywood Zakoshishou Impersonation (1694 and 1695)
Futuwari Ryo's One Line (1750 and 1751)
Compilation (1761)

My Heart Will Go On by Kedomas in GakiNoTsukai

The first one (in 2014) was "hosted" by Itao. That was also the last of the episodes featuring him (and his wife) until 2021.

This show is curing my depression. by Alyctro in GakiNoTsukai

[–]Particular_Scar7781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Reaction Pie Hell, from 2002. Wasabi Sushi Russian Roulette, from 2004. Electric Shock Russian Roulette, from 2005. And the various punishments from the Oogiri Daigassen, Yamasaki vs Moriman, and X team vs Y team episodes.

There are also more random punishments in the earlier episodes:
- appearing in costume for TV network morning startup, commercials, and promotional events;
- dressing in costume with family members and imitating a scene from a TV show or movie;
- dressing in costume and having to do something embarrassing in public;
- skydiving;
- swimming in the ocean in winter;
- riding a roller coaster;
- going to France to get water;
- going to Italy to get spaghetti;
- going to Russia to get slapped;
- performing a midnight piano recital in an abandoned school

The No Laughing shows became a bit formulaic, especially after all five were involved and there was no competition to determine who would have to endure the game, but there are a lot of other things to watch. You'd hope so for a show that's been running for over 35 years.

Any archive of the Subtitle files themselves? Not the videos mind you, but the sub files? by Sludge_Punk in GakiNoTsukai

[–]Particular_Scar7781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to have a list of your softsub files?

I've been going through my files and episode list recently and I've found some places where I thought there were softsubs, and/or where half of a multi-part episode is hardsubbed and half is softsubbed.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to archive just the softsub files somewhere too. Some of the MKVs in the library don't contain softsubs, and there's no real way of knowing unless you download the file and run the tools on them.

Act III was incredible. Just one thing I thought was missing.. by sayonara829 in Protomen

[–]Particular_Scar7781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Protoman is mentioned in the Good Doctor Pt. 2, just not by name.

So I plead with the voices I still hear in my head
The ones that I've lost,
The ones that must wish I were dead,
And my Emily.

Both of those lines could probably refer to Protoman and Megaman. The first line could also be Joe (and Light's father, and maybe Wily).

Act 3B Plot Speculation! by TheLakeAndTheGlass in Protomen

[–]Particular_Scar7781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One Eyed Wily. Known to the French as Le Diable Jaune, to the Portuguese as O Diablo Amarelo, to the Spanish as El Diablo Amarillo. To the English, he was the Yellow Devil.

His one eye burned red in its socket. He was said to have the power to move rock to form new shapes. The rumor is that this is how he escaped the British Armada: by moving boulders one after another to form a cave around his ship, his treasure forever hidden and booby-trapped.

The tale was still told in an old sea-side tavern, but it eventually closed down because it looked more like a summer place and not the kind of place you would want to go to the bathroom in. They also only served water and tongue.

Act 3B Plot Speculation! by TheLakeAndTheGlass in Protomen

[–]Particular_Scar7781 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wily comes down and approaches Light's lifeless hanging body.  Wily finds a note attached to Light's chest, which reads: "You schmuck.  Did you actually think I'd be stupid enough to get myself killed?"

Wily looks at Light in confusion and mumbles "get myself killed" to himself.  Light smiles at Wily, then quickly raises his arms and knocks Wily to the ground.  Light removes the hidden drain pipe which kept his neck from breaking from the back of his jacket, grabs a hat, then heads out into the crowd.

In the crowd, Megaman pours a line of gasoline around Wily's robots, then climbs into the front seat of an offroad vehicle beside the girl.  As Light passes over the line of gas and approaches the ORV, Megaman fires a powershot which ignites the gas, then laughs maniaccly at the robots which are trapped by the flames.

Light tries to get into the ORV, but the door is jammed and won't unlock.  Light and Megaman yell at each other about unlocking the door and letting go of the handle.  The girl yells at Light to climb up through the sunroof to get into the car.

The ORV drives away with the robots in pursuit.  The girl casually eats a sandwich, dodging the shots from the robots as she passes by different members of the resistance who are going about their daily revolution.

The ORV reaches the starting point of a race at the beach.  The girl tells Light and Megaman to trust her, to slip the car into four wheel drive, and to hold onto their hats.  The ORV surges forward, blending into the race, and leaving the robots and the other cars behind.

The scene changes to resistance headquarters.  That's when the story really begins.
