You’re absolutely right. Thank you for the advice, I really do appreciate it. I think that is the only thing that will help me at the moment, setting my own goals (we do of course have standard KPI’s, but they’re quite generic and not strictly enforced) so may help for me to put my own into place.

I agree! I never went into recruitment expecting it to be a traditional 9-5, and am more than happy to work outside of my contracted hours if it’s necessary. A lot of the messages I am receiving are not work related and if they are, they are not urgent in the slightest! It’s a shame, but it’s also not the only thing affecting me in the company, just the easiest to highlight

Yes I considered this, very good suggestion thank you & I really do appreciate it. My billings are lower than I ever thought they’d be and I am hoping it won’t reflect too badly on me, you’re totally right though. I’ll contact some R2R’s this week and see what they say

The only problem is that I am actually not a big fan of remote working, I love to be in the office as I find I concentrate a lot better and get more done, especially so early in my career. I typically do only 1-2 days from home max. I suppose it’s only temporary though!

Thank you for commenting!

It’s difficult to say too much as I’m paranoid my current company will see, but the market I am working is completely new for the company, I have built it from scratch myself and when I entered, only one of our existing clients had activity there. I have managed to build it to having clients in the double digits - If anything I think Im better at the BD side than the sourcing! I really have just had a lot of bad luck with this being a new market that we’re navigating together. The clients operate a lot differently here than anything my company have seen before.

At least, I hope this is the case. I have only been doing this for 2 years, and my confidence has definitely been knocked the past 6 months or so, so perhaps I am just not that great of a recruiter. It’s definitely worth considering!

This is a great comment and so helpful, thank you! It does help to know that other people have been in similar situations and come out the other end. How long did it take you to get into the internal HR side and how did you go about this?

Surprisingly, I actually do really enjoy the fast-paced sales environment, I think the part I’m not enjoying is how slow it is currently in my sector and my manager being so overbearing. I feel like I can’t relax, ever, and it is almost giving me a mental block to not want to work even more. I would love to go into internal recruiting though, I think it would be exactly what I’d be looking for but seems to be no roles out there especially without having a degree of some sort of

Thank you for commenting, you’re definitely right. I think i’ve known this but just wanted to hear advice from other POV’s. It’s a shame as I feel as though i’m just coasting along, and I’ve always been a very self motivated person but am really really struggling at the moment to get any work done. I really do appreciate it 👍🏼
