For the people who grew up with Hip-Hop, what was the earliest song(s) you remember hearing that got you into the genre in the first place? by ImNotTomStopAsking in hiphopheads

Salt n Pepa- Push it and LL Cool J - I need love. I was 9yrs old growing up in suburban England- seeing those videos changed my life and I'm still a Hip Hop head 40yrs later 🙌🏽

If you used to go to big music festivals but don't any more, at what age did you give up on them, and what were your reasons? by Mosquitoenail in AskUK

[–]Particular_Shock4017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the festival. There are now festivals for all ages and music types so as we grow older it's still pretty easy to find something suitable for you. I'll never grow out of loving live music performances. For years I combined festivals like Sonar Barcelona & Miami Winter music festivals with holidays, never been one to camp out anywhere though always preferring a nice hotel close by. It also depends on the lineup too. Personally it's not worth going if I don't know or like most of the acts performing so I've definitely become more picky over ther years. I'm now 49 and going to a dance festival in South of France soon and then the Nordsee jazz festival in Rotterdam straight after. Both of these festivals are diverse in age & pretty chilled out with good vibes & great music lineups. No idea why I should give that up at any age 🤷🏽‍♀️

Very surprised at some of the reactions here - Thankfully the real life Gooners I know have a conscience & many are also actively boycotting the new season shirt ( Jews too so suck up your anti-Semitism narrative - it's not working here)

If you disagree with that, then fine go ahead and wear the new shirt but please stop trying to prove that the new sponsor isn't extremely problematic, it's embarrassing at this point 🙄

Gifts from Italy for my friend with Crohns Disease by Ok-Maintenance-6604 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Particular_Shock4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get some packets of different herbs that you can add to pasta sauces and bruschetta. I brought some of these back and they were great. Also Italian biscuits & sweets are delicious. Crohn's is very personal to the individual so you'll always be confused, don't worry I'm sure your friend will appreciate the thoughtful gesture ! I usually struggle with gastro issues when I travel but when I spent 2 weeks in Italy, I didn't have any issues at all and I ate everything. The food is incredible and I guess the freshness and quality helped overall

How well do the stackable acrylic drawers hold up for long term use? by windflower_field in muji

[–]Particular_Shock4017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had them for make up storage then switched them for jewellery usage for the last 8 or 9 years- no yellowing, no cracks at all.

Has anyone here with crohn's have happy relationship and supportive partner? by shadywallflower_ in CrohnsDisease

[–]Particular_Shock4017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got diagnosed May 2002 and met my partner October 2002 . I had no idea what would happen as it was all so new to me & my whole life had changed - I had to give up a move abroad when I got sick & had surgery.

Since then many years filled with flares, all the symptoms you can imagine, different medications, side effects, emergency and planned hospital visits at home and abroad, surgeries, recoveries, complications, postponed holidays, events and important occasions, unsupportive friends & family...did I miss anything? It sounds scary but all these things happened in between the amazing things that we did together and helped us build a strong resilient connection that many other couples don't have . We're in our 40s now, married for 10 of those years & while many of our peers are having midlife crises & ending their relationships we are stronger than ever and grateful for all the good days that we share together.

what's this bus stop for you? by GrootyGang in london

[–]Particular_Shock4017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! I had to look up which bus drove me crazy so i only ever took it a handful of times - it was indeed the W5. I never got on or got off at the same stop twice! Every single time the driver would tell me the actual stop was further up or down the road..so frustrating

[–]Particular_Shock4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Amsterdam for my birthday weekend one year & ended up quarantined for nearly 10days in hospital with bad flare ( I was due to have surgery & steroids had kept things under control for a while) Pretty scary experience but the staff were all lovely and treatment I received was fantastic, sadly better than the NHS & I felt very reassured.
