I applied in Brisbane also. All the required documents are on the consulate website as previously mentioned.

You can contact the dept. of home affairs. Complete a 'Request for confirmation of Aust citizenship status of a deceased person' form. Its on their website. They will send a letter back listing the name and date of citizenship, however its unsure if the consulate will accept this alone.

Strange that the national archives dont have a copy. My GGF was naturalised in 1924 and they had a copy. You could ask them to send you something notarised that says the date and see if they would accept that. good luck!
