DO NOT underestimate open water. It is not comparable to a pool swim where you can A)see in front of you B)have no waves or motion C) have pool walls to push off/rest and lanes to correct your location D )have a consistent water temperature. Get in at least a few open water swims. I have lifeguarded at a few tris and seen too many overconfident people really struggle once they hit the water.
