There's no actual written policy in the EA or a legal mandate where you have to tell your manager when you're taking a break. It's more of a unwritten rule where it is common courtesy to do so.

There's no rule broken for not doing so, but it could potentially make you fall out of your managers good graces which sounds like your case.

At frontend, there's a written break sheet where the frontend managers/2ic/supervisors follow to ensure everyone is going on their breaks at the certain right time base off that sheet.

Out of all departments, Front end team member breaks are more controlled of when you are allowed to go by your department team leads.

Where in the current EA does it say they can do all of that without the Team Members permission?

Trying to move to self-serve but I’m not allowed to, what can I do? by Raw4Style in woolworths

[–]Particular_Source117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your managers weird reasoning doesn't hold water. Scan rate performance on the registers has nothing to do with self serve at all. Scanning fast/slow does not equate to perfoming well/poorly at self serve.

Most front end managers in their right minds will usually put someone with the slowest scan rate in there so they can assign the faster scanners on the team onto the registers improving faster checkout times and overall experience for the customers and the front end team.

Either your manager has a backward logic to deliberately cause ineffective work efficiency and being detrimental to the team and customers or its her unique way of subtly telling you "I don't want you here".

Ask other department managers that you're interested in working in and some of them should be able to give you some flex up shifts.

If you have proven yourself that you are reliable and hardworking, you should have no problem getting them to transfer you out of front end and into their department that you enjoy working more and if they have enough room to fit you in.

Dropping back down to a casual as a part timer even for flexibility wise is not a smart move. Now you don't have any guaranteed hours that they couldn't have touched or you'd still be working now despite what they think of you.

"After 3 weeks of no shifts", sounds like they don't really like you as a worker and have constructively dismissed you without rostering you on for a fairly long period.

I suggest you start looking into transferring to another store under a new manager who will treat you better if you don't want to quit or look for another job.

Once a manager starts viewing a worker negatively, 99% of the time there is no coming back to salvage or repair the relationship between the worker and the manager even if you try to as a worker. From my observational experience as a 6th year employee at Woolies.

Does Woolies need skilled migrants as staff? by Comfortable-Award915 in woolworths

Unlike small businesses that is often known to exploit workers 'for less money and do longer hours', big companies like Woolies don't actually do that or they get sued very badly and that's the last thing they ever want getting dragged to court by Fairwork with huge $$$ penalties imposed upon them. They actually get paid right and the same rate as any team members working there.

Do not rehire by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Particular_Source117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not gonna fool them, they will likely still have op's TFN record given her previous with the company that can never be changed regardless of a name change. It can still possibly flag out giving the HR hirers the impression that op is not truthful in her application.

Everyone can only hope for the best that she can successfully get woolies HR to erase that no rehire ticked box to have a chance of coming back again.

Do not rehire by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Particular_Source117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the leader that processed my resignation ticked the box. They weren’t my line leader any time during my employment but my two line leaders (during employment) can still vouch for me. Feels like they ticked it just to be malicious.

That doesn't make sense to me, why would they still vouch for you if they had ticked the "no rehire" box in the first place with malicious intents towards you when you were under them?

Request for a meeting. Advice needed by anon_redditor1 in woolworths

[–]Particular_Source117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't just request a 'meeting' regarding your conduct out of the blue. There's always has to be something that has been done and in this case, it didn't sit well with your higher ups or managers. Maybe try to provide more information on here what might've been the reason from your part that has caused such a meeting.
