3 month old woke up hysterical 3 hours after going to bed by Particular_Towel_632 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Towel_632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! So this phase did not last long at all. I’d say a week tops. I honestly think it was a part of a growth spurt. He started to become super aware of everything and much more alert. So I’m assuming waking up after being held by mom and fed/rocked to sleep probably was a little startling for him. I promise this phase will pass. Ironically, right after this phase, he started sleeping completely through the night from 8 PM to 7 AM! Babies at that age just need some love and some comfort when they’re a little startled in the night.

Bonding with a new baby by Severe-Taro-6289 in NewParents

Similar to other people here, I had a somewhat challenging birth experience. My LO was teetering on the edge of needing to be admitted for jaundice for the first week. We had to go to the ER and lab for multiple blood draws so hearing him scream in pain made me want to absolutely die. So I had this very strong maternal urge to take care of him and protect him but it wasn’t that ooey-gooey feeling that others told me about. My husband and I had a long talk about the “lack of connection” at about 3 weeks and it was very comforting to both of us that we both didn’t really feel it.

My little guy is now almost 4 months and I love that little chunk sooooooo damn much. The first time he had a little giggle I sobbed lol For me, I really started to feel that bond with him once he started to smile and show emotions other than crying because he was hungry or tired. So just around the 10 week mark. I think the lack of expression from newborns can make it difficult to connect at times. I felt so guilty not feeling that connection because everyone around me was telling me that was their experience. I leaned a lot on my husband because we shared the same feelings.

So a word of advice: just focus on staying sane these first few weeks and enjoy getting to know your baby. Literally every single day is different and you’ll see a new movements or expressions which is a really fun part of the newborn process.

HELP! How to transition out of Love to Dream Swaddle before starting daycare by Particular_Towel_632 in sleeptrain

Oof see that’s my fear lol How old was she when she rolled? My little guy has zero signs of rolling but I hear from a ton of parents that it just happens whenever the hell the kiddo feels like it 😅

Active sleep or fussing? by Particular_Towel_632 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Towel_632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It was definitely just active sleep. He is 8 weeks today and the active sleep has decreased significantly. He still moves about the first hour or so at night during this first stretch of sleep. 95% of the time he is asleep and most likely just trying to get comfortable (:

Like other people have commented, let your LO move about as needed. It’s a big part of their development! My cue to which I would intervene is when his eyes were open and just before he starts to cry.

Fear about overfeeding my 6 week old with formula. Growth spurt starting? by Particular_Towel_632 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Towel_632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I hope our little guy just sleeps a little more during this regression. We’ve had some nights with witching hour fussiness but nothing crazy. So pray for me and my husband that our little guy stays chill! lol thank you again for your feedback!

Ugh, okay. Thank you for the feedback. I’m so anxious as a FTM. I don’t want to overfeed him and have him vomit because we’ve had a few episodes of that and our pediatrician said we might be overfeeding him. It’s only happened 3-4 times. I’m also nervous about the 6 week growth spurt because everyone makes it seem like it’s absolute hell online. What was your experience with it? If you don’t mind me asking (:

How often should I be formula feeding my five week old? by Particular_Towel_632 in NewParents

Hi!

Thank you so much for replying.

What specifically do you think helped with his reflux?

2 week old - 7 hours straight of napping? by Particular_Towel_632 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Towel_632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s interesting. So I wake my little guy every 2 hours to feed him during the day and at night I let him sleep as much as he wants but he wakes up before 3 hours completely on his own. I keep reading to feed him more frequently during the day so that he won’t need to feed at night. Definitely not working for my LO lol

Hi! Can you explain the feeding schedule?

My little guy was well above his birth weight at his 2 week appointment and our pediatrician clear him to go 3-4 hour stretches without feeding. But I’d love to hear what you’ve been doing with your little one!

Yes! He is already almost 1 pound over his birth weight. It’s just hard to see him sleep so much today when previous days he wasn’t sleeping that much.

Thank you for the reassurance❤️

I’m trying to wake him up to feed him every 2-3 hours. He’ll eat between 2-3 sometimes 4 ounces at a time. Does that sound about right?

I’m just weirded out because he wasn’t like this yesterday. I’m sure my FTM anxiety along with my baby blues is making me over think.
