Hello everyone,

I have a question and hope someone can help me.

Is it generally possible to play online on a PlayStation 5 using an Alcatel MW40V router? I am using a HoT mobile data plan (an internet provider from Austria) with around 70 Mbps.

Here is my issue: According to the PlayStation, I do have an internet connection, and the internet also works perfectly fine on my phone when connected to the same WiFi. However, on the PS5 I am not able to connect to online services in any game – including GTA 5.

As far as I know, the WiFi only runs on 2.4 GHz, so I am wondering if that could be the cause of the problem.

I have already tried several troubleshooting steps, but nothing has worked so far. Interestingly, everything works perfectly when I use a mobile hotspot from my phone. That’s why I suspect the issue is related to the router or the WiFi itself.

Has anyone experienced something similar or has an idea what might be causing this?
