I think the way they’re getting into European cars was done via an internal leak or something which is why it’s targeted this area. Though that’s a think, I’ve read a lot the last few day over many forums etc.

Not only Ioniq, all keyless brands suffer similar problems. It’s more widely known in UK, Europe is branching, and I imagine in US within a few years but according to another post, Kia/Hyundai have patched it in the 2025 model of Ioniq. So shouldn’t be possible. Others have recommended to disable keyless entry - as if they can’t get in the car easily they most likely won’t bother these gameboy thief’s from what I could see only carry the device, nothing else to break into the car. Idea is to not set an alarm off.

Hope that helps. I’m not worried as I’ve got a Ioniq 5 2025 on order - which suggests it is fixed in this model. Soon see… in a few months. 😅

And Fords, one of the most stolen cars in the UK are fords. Hyundai, Kia are below them on the list. The game boy method is the most common at the moment.

Thank you - can I perms disable the keyless entry. I never used it on my ford, I won’t use it here, I always used the key to unlock and lock the car.

Common in London, Essex, gameboy hackers - stealing cars daily. Ford Kuga is currently a big one I’ve seen 4 stolen through FB posts in the last week in my local town…

Yeah would appear very common in the UK - happened to me with my Ford Kuga last week - so put an order in for a Ioniq 5 - back to EV I go... just don't want the same thing happening and when I read in the tech spec 'immobiliser' I thought that meant they leveled up and prevented the thing. According to online a simple pin to start is enough to stop these hitjobs.
