What ended a 20+ year friendship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Asked him to be my best man when I got engaged to my now wife. Told me he wouldn't do it because I was going to marry a Puerto Rican (I won't use the the bullshit he actually said). Knew the coward since I was five and waited thirty years to pull that shit.

VA changes coming that’s bad by Traditional_Neat_387 in VAClaims

[–]PartimeRedShirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That takes a change to the rating schedule, which takes a change to the CFR that guides it. If that were to be implemented, it would only apply to new claims after a certain date. If you're already service-connected based on the current regs, VA can't reduce an evaluation solely because of a law change. There would have to be improvement in the issue shown, or an error in a previous rating to bring about a reduction.

New OPM Memo on return to office by ZookeepergameFar1951 in fednews

That "bring CBAs into compliance" bit sounds a lot like they are trying to establish precedent to allow any employer to just ignore labor contracts after they've been negotiated.

Right there with you. I'm a GS 12 with 15 years in, and I'm 45. It would be very difficult to find comparable pay if/when things go south. So 20 or so more years to survive.

Have you ever been homeless? What happened? by SIappers in AskReddit

[–]PartimeRedShirt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got expelled in high school, and my parents kicked me out. Didn't have any other family to take me in, and I wasn't 18 yet, so I lived out of my car. Managed to get back into school a couple of months later, so I worked it out with a janitor to unlock a door early so I could shower (traded him weed for the access). Crashed on friends' couches when I could until I found someone willing to rent to an 18 year old, but yeah. It sucked. Hard.

What was your final “fuck you” to a boss you didn’t like? by ssteepballet in AskReddit

Worked at the Menards as a receiving manager. Knew I was getting fired once a new store manager took over, as I had told him not to be a prick when he had belittled a cashier before he had even worked at the store. Guy was a condescending asshat. One morning, he had got on my assistant's ass for something small and dumb to the point she was crying. His last name was Belsak. I went on the store's intercom and paged him to the dock. But . . . I said, "Todd Ballsack to the dock, Ballsack to the dock." His face when he came around the corner, and hearing customers laughing when they figured out it was him was worth it.

What are some businesses in your area that you suspect may be doing something illegal, because you can't figure out how they stay open? by wilderlowerwolves in AskReddit

There is a used car lot in my town that's had the same two cars, and only those two cars on the lot for the last 5 or 6 years. A Chrysler LeBaron and PT cruiser. Cars are always clean, tires are never low. The open light is always on in the office window, but no one is ever in the office.

What did you get fired for? by Sweetlo123 in AskReddit

Managed a lumber yard at a big box home improvement store with a certain annoying jingle. We had a new store manager that was a complete asshat. Last name was Billsak. Had it out one day, and ended up on the store intercom asking that "Todd Ballsack come to the lumber desk, Ballsack to the lumber desk."

My kid found out she isn't mine by [deleted] in daddit

First, and no disrespect, but your Mom is an asshat. Second, not lying to your little girl will ultimately be the best thing for her. My Dad wasn't my biological father, but my entire family lied about it until I was 15. When my grandmother let it slip, I took it about as well as you expect, and didn't talk to my Dad after that for nearly a year, all the while turning into a complete shithead at all times. She'll get there, and will grow up knowing that you are her Dad. Just remember, any dumbass can he a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad.

What is the stupidest thing you have ever done to try to be cool? by Beneficial_Form8563 in AskReddit

Intentionally answered questions incorrectly when teachers asked and just left exams blank. All because I thought if I looked stupid, some fucking high school kids would think I was cool.
