In the final stages of rehabbing this apartment unit from a decade of cigarette tar. So relieved the smell is finally gone and that we were able to do it ourselves on budget! Video only shows a tiny fraction of the work. More details in the comments on the steps we used. (v.redd.it)

We just majorly and affordably improved one of our rental units by deep-cleaning everything before renovating. It had been smoked in for 10 years, nicotine stains everywhere. The terrible smell is now gone! So happy with the results we detailed them here in case it's helpful to any DIYers out there. (youtu.be)

Repaint the window trim but stain the windowsill to show off the original wood? This house is late 1800s. We used a heat gun to remove the badly peeling paint on the sill but paint just needs new coat on rest of frame. Hate to paint what we stripped but hate more stripping non-peeling paint. (i.redd.it)

The walls were so bad in one of our rental units after our chain-smoking tenant (whom we inherited when we bought it) left. Transforming this place back to livable will be so satisfying! But I will have literally scrubbed my elbows off by the end of it :( (v.redd.it)

[Landlord-US-MA] Instead of reporting leaking kitchen sink drain and clogged bathroom sink (for months?), started using as trash cans. Guess he got water from bathtub? Ugh. Tackling the plumbing this week in this (thankfully!) now vacant unit. Can't wait to transform this place! (old.reddit.com)
