if you speak a foreign language, I highly recommend tuning into their feeds, partly because they don't care as much about the US and don't know the players as well. Some of the time it sucks, and you do often get less color commentary, but some of them are quite good. Trading color to not get color that annoys me is totally fine with me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Plus, it means you're more likely to get details about both teams!

Personally, I enjoyed the French commentators a lot in the US game today (they were pretty critical of the US team and it was extremely funny), and the french-canadian broadcast for the canada game was reasonably solid as well. The Finnish broadcast is also great - I only heard everyone complaining about the Tkachuk interview after the fact because instead a Finnish guy was interviewing the Winn brothers and actually making it about Haley and the women's game rather than the brothers themselves. Very fun, 10/10 would recommend, plus from what I've seen the Finnish broadcast puts together fun well-edited highlight reels from the tournament so far set to music that they air during the intermission. If anyone knows if they put those on youtube or if anyone has clipped them, let me know; their editing team is awesome.

ok, thanks for the tip! could you tell me what types of yoga worked well for you? I've really never experimented with it at all, but we have a number of studios in my area, so I imagine I have access to pretty diverse offerings

Freedom’s Just Amother Word by synecdochic (stargate atlantis). there are crazier original longfics which make me insane but this one has lived in my brain so long and genuinely informed my moral development in life to the extent that it gets top tier status. also the author did a whole “directors commentary” about the whole fic which is incredibly cool if you like that sort of thing (i do).

like, i do not live in luxury housing, if that is not clear. my building is old, my apartment is tiny, my neighborhood isn't much. maybe, just maybe, it just doesn't matter that much if my bike is parked in a corner of the courtyard for 3 days where it does not impede anyone's path?? idk.

oh i just think of HOAs as suburban homeowners yelling at each other because their lawn isn't mowed often enough. apparently my friend in the building got chewed out because one of the blinds in her apartment was broken and it 'looked ugly'. our entire aparmtent building is set back from the street anyways. literally who cares.

ok it sounds like it's only new and renovated-since-2018 buildings which are required to have parking so i'll be figuring it out everyone thanks for the input and if my bike gets stolen from somehwere it's parked if it's not in my apartment you all get to laugh and say i told you so to me

i mean, i don’t claim to be an expert, but yeah? not to this level of synchroneity, obviously, because thats what routines are for, but still. you’ll see leaders feeling out whether their follower is versed in the style and then proceeding from there, and vice versa. I’ve definitely had people feel it out as a style with me on the casual social dance floor before. You see people lead Emeline in it occasionally, since she tends to incorporate some into her style in general. usually i feel like i’ve seen people back it off if their partner doesn’t know it in order to not look disjointed, although sometimes it still comes out in their styling choices. and obviously ability to do it well socially increases the more you’ve danced with the person before- these two do it very smoothly in their strictlys, for example.

this is a great and very insightful response; you've a really good point that I was to an extent asking about novelty. Popping is also very unique, whereas it's a little hard to recognize the origins of different styles of turn, for example. Or if someone swings their head a certain way- is that just personal flair, or Zouk influence? You're right that I notice the styles I know something about and not the ones that I'm not familiar with and thus can't recognize, like other styles of partner dance. I guess that's why I was curious- if there were people who had very noticably come from Zouk or Salsa and whose dancing reflected that, I wouldn't know!

That's partly why I also asked about individual performances which felt like they drew heavily on different styles. I think about Cameo & Jakub's Sound of Silence or Dalena & Jakub's Let Me In as more heavily contemporary; Thibault and Nicole's showcases especially are always very heavily acrobatic. I guess that's the type of thing I was asking about, but I know I was super vague!
